I shouldn't have to pay for this. It should already be in the game or I should at least get it for free considering I own virtually every Total War there is. But CA will say, "it's for parental guidance" or "we want kids to have an option to not play with blood derp derp", but that's bullsh*t. They don't care about your kids. Not one d*mn bit. All they want is to suck you dry of your money. Everything on the planet has a price tag to these degenerates. So instead of putting an option in the game for turning blood off like a normal game studio, they sell it as DLC. Unreal.

It's a good game. It has the best campaign mechanics out of all the most recent Total Wars.

Diplomacy is actually viable now and you can win campaigns with it alone.

The battles are fun and look great.

Units have formations that are both useful and aesthetically pleasing.

Army composition has been reworked to the retinue system which I like very much. So armies now can have 3 generals each that can recruit certain types of units that are color coordinated to match each general. This allows for buffs for said units from said generals. It's a very pleasant addtion to the game.

Army supplies have been added so enemy armies can't just roam your lands for the entire campaign.

However, with all that said, they went ahead and sold the blood pack as DLC again which is complete horse sh*t, but that doesn't make the base game bad by any means.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that this game is pretty good. At launch, it was pretty not good, but they have updated it to add more content and make it a little more difficult.

Straight up. The performance in battles is the best in any Total War and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The controls are smooth and the animations look great. You'll get smooth performance even with a mid tier pc at medium-high settings. It's very well optimized. The AI is pretty much the same with minor improvements. You'll have a lot of fun playing seige battles as that has improved light years.

The campaign experience will be slightly different from other total wars. They've changed the way settlements work by taking away garrison units to defend unwalled towns. This allows one unit armies to go around capturing your smaller settlements which can be annoying, but it can also be very strategic. For example, you can now send small armies to capture farms and cut off the food supply of your enemy as well as boost your food supply for more troops. You also don't get to choose what to build in your minor settlements. This means farm settlements will always be farm settlements which again, can be either annoying OR strategic. Just depends on your opinion of Total War: Warhammer.

Armies now have supply meters. If the meter depletes, then you are "out of supplies" and your units will start taking attrition. You gain supplies by being in your own or allied territories. This means enemy armies can't just d**k around in your lands for the entire campaign. Now they have to resupply or they will die (unlike Warhammer).

Also, when you recruit units, they start off depleted and you have to wait 5 or 6 turns until the unit is replenished. This can be avoided by merging units and I really have never had any problem with this at all. It's actually kind of nice. For example, once you destroy a 20 stack, the AI can't pull another 20 stack out of its a** (like it does in Warhammer).

They have also changed the politics a bit. Your generals will now start requesting "estates" that you gain by occupying towns that have "estates". This gives you a good reason to invade and expand your territories. This also gives you a good reason to build estates in your main settlments as before it was completley useless, like Warhammer fans.

Every faction you are not at war with, you are trading with. The same goes for the AI. This makes it so that you can't just sit in raid stance for 50 turns or you'll end up at war with everyone on the map. Another thing that might be a bit bothersome is that it's hard to make your main cities produce money. For example, most structures you can build in the building slots require money to maintain said structures. I found that some of my cities in the endgame were not producing very much income. So this game does make it difficult to manage your building slots so you must build wisely if you want to make max profit from your settlements.

If you are really good at Total War games, you'll probably find this game to be a bit easy unless you set everything to Legendary. In that case you will die a slow and painful death. All in all I would say that if you're new to the franchise or if you're looking for another Total War game to spice things up, go ahead and give this one a go. After all, it's better than Total War: Warhammer. (That's right, I said it. Fight me)

P.S.

Warhammer fans review bombed this game becuase there's no unicorns or magic fairies. Go figure.
