A very generic VN that may be interesting for ultimate beginners to otaku media in general, but as a huge fan of Little Busters, Clannad, and in general just a lot of harem anime, it's nothing you've never seen before. I will state I do want to give HUGE credit to the English translators, editors, and so on for the great translation work and breathing life into an otherwise stale work. For the game itself, I genuinely appreciate the nuance and thought put into its LGBT-adjacent characters in Chapter 5(?); it really surprised me, especially for a game that originally came out in 2013. Otherwise though, as stated, nothing you've never seen before, and if you're in the mood for more nuanced and thoughtful romance like I am, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

I've been thinking a lot about how to describe my issues without getting my ragequit-prone mindset getting in the way, and it boils down to the sphere grid system. If you're a diehard Final Fantasy fan and not a complete newcomer, you won't have issues. But for me, a younger (early Gen Z whose first real game was Kingdom Hearts with the fat PS3) video game player who has had relatively straightforward game experiences, Final Fantasy X was a huge letdown because of how confusing its gameplay mechanics can be. If you're not a fan of older games, it's probably better to watch a playthrough if you're only here for the (really good) narrative.

I originally dropped this VN after finishing Shin's (the Steam border boy) route because I found it pretty boring. I gave it another chance to play Toma's route because I heard he's a yandere, which I'm generally more into. But even during that more dark route, it was unbelievably boring and shallow, which feels like an insult to works that portray problematic relationships in a way that are intentionally romantic, but are written to be a clear fantasy. In general, "boring and shallow" is how I would describe the routes I've read, and I do not plan to continue reading.
