It's not the same as JA 2 v1.13, but it does scratch that certain itch. Definitely worth buying if you're a fan of the series.

It's kinda good.

EDIT: It's still good.

EDIT 2: Again, still pretty good.

Fantastic game that feels like an amalgamation of XCOM, Sunless Sea, Desperados & Quentin-Tarantio-movies.
The story is presented through single scenarios that must be unlocked, but not necessarily be played in chronological order. Each scenario is closed in itself and presents a part of the main storyline, the prologue or side-stories. All of them will ultimately run together for the final scenario.

The game focusses strongly on the narrative side, most of the events are presented through text. You will be able to roam a portion of the Weird West and interact with landmarks, towns, etc. through which you can buy/sell equipment and also delve deeper into the Weird West.

Combat is well-thought out, the system of cover and the weapons-damage dependent on it requires you to move a lot and try to flank the enemies. Sadly, they will do the same and are quite smart at catching you off-guard, which is more often than not the end because characters (enemy or PC) can survive about 2-3 shots at the very most.
Thankfully, you can customize your characters fixed stats by equipping trinkets or poker cards, which will also unlock abilities. Should you get and actual poker hand, you'll get extra bonusses.

The characters are intriguing and the storylines hold many suprises and are generally well written and interesting. It's amazing how they eventually string together for the finale.

I definitely recommend this game, go get it while it's on sale!

Oh yeah, you have only one autosave, so whatever you do, you did it ^^ Ain't no turning back when you hustle with the devil

A great game where your choices matter and have disturbingly huge impact at times. The replay-value is really high because of the choices, which makes up for the games length, which is around 10h on normal difficulty.

The story is not something outstandingly uniqute, but it's well executed and the characters are quite likeable (or unlikeable), which is a definite plus.

The combat can be frustratingly hard at times, although once you get used it, it gets a lot easer and more strategic. Still, the abilities could've been fleshed out a little more. Nonetheless, the combat is challenging and fun.

I played through the game 3x times now, and there are still some things I want to try out.

Go buy it, especially now that it's on sale!

I arrived at a town and found a girl stuck on a tree, Had Chisel kick the tree with Brute Force.
The girl fell down and broke her leg. My medic performed surgery to fix the leg.
Girl: "Bye, gentle cripplers."

I talked to a guard saying I fixed the leg of a girl who "fell from a tree". Guard gave me 50 scrap.

Best 2-minute sequence in a game ever!

10/10, would gently cripple again.

Especially with all the nice little improvements and the unbelieveably better atmosphere and graphics of the Director's Cut. Buy it!
