Knights of the Old Republic II is hands-down the best piece of Star Wars media that has ever been created and likely ever will be created. There is no greater analysis of the Stars Wars universe that is presented from the perspective of inside it.

The game itself is admittedly dated - a cRPG made in 2004 released only 17 months after its predecessor was will not have the most unique mechanics. Low graphical fidelity, turn-based combat that was arguably old at the point of release, and level design that needed another few weeks or months of touch up that Obsidian never got.

But this is not a game you play for the mechanics of it. Knights of the Old Republic II is played for its story. I want to point to bits and pieces of dialogue and story bits as evidence, but I don't want to spoil anything for people going in blind. All I can say is that every single companion is more fleshed-out than many characters in AAA games released today and the ideas presented in its narrative is the most compelling one I personally have ever experienced. I fully mean it when I say that this game has made me change my perspective on life.

If you want to just go through the game once to see it, do the following:
- Get the Restored Content Mod off the workshop.
- Get the Party Swap mod so you're not screwed by 2004 gender-locked companion design ( https://www.moddb.com/mods/partyswap/downloads/partyswap-133 )
- Play a Consular and pump your mental stats (Int, Wis, Cha) (I go for something like 14/15 Int, 16/17/18 Wis, 14/15/16 Cha)
- Pump the Awareness and Persuade skills, and invest some points into Use Computer and Repair.
