Bandai Namco went full greed-mode.

As of march 29, approximately 2 months after launch, Bandai decided to add an item shop with purchases being made with real cash and a premium battle pass, all purchased seperately from the already expensive 30$ season pass in a 60$ game, without any pre-launch roadmap warning players about the ways in which the game's going to be monetised.
All of this is being included in a game that's plagued with many other issues that need urgent fixing, like wonky netcode, terrible balance and no real penalties for cheaters/rage quitters.

Scummy doesn't even begin to describe it, I can't recommend a product thats leaning so heavily towards such shady practices, it's a shame, because the core game itself is a lot of fun.

Horrible performance when entering a bigger area like a city or an encampent, slow, janky "realistic" animations making the controls feel more sluggish and awkward than the original game from 2012, a SINGLE save file, still, in 2024? The biggest issue everyone had with the original, and its still not fixed after 12 years? AND You can't start a NEW game from the menu and instead You're forced to manually remove the save from the files? And microtransactions for stuff like fast travel and character edits that were conveniently absent from any and all relevant marketing, 12 years of waiting for this, Capcom?

Avoid this game like a plague, play the original for 10$ instead.

A full set of costumes for each character costs more than the entire, full priced game + DLC... Not to mention the predatory practices involving the way these skins are priced for the in-game money.

Even if You want to obtain just one skin for Your favorite character, You have to basically overpay to get anything because of the way the FC bundles are priced... Yeah, I love this game but that's just disgusting and I don't want to support it in any way.

This game took me by a complete surprise.

I expected cute girls, drinks, memes and chatting, and don't get me wrong, I got all of that and then some, but when it wants to, Va-11 Hall-a can deliver a powerful, emotional gut punch (ha gedit).

It made me reflect on my past, my current adult life and decisions I've made to get to it, relationships I've made, only to see them fade away, feeling pain and discovering joy in creating new connections, and everything inbeetwen.

Its writting stays fresh and consistent throughout it's 15-ish hour runtime, every character feels fleshed out and interesting, and experiencing the story unfold as it takes some unexpected turns was a bliss from start to finish.

Also Jill x Dana is canon.

This game sucks @$$, I love it.

Pow, pow, punch, wham, whoosh.
