Smite 2 is going to be DOA for that reason alone. Tons of other mobas around that are 100% free, no ones paying money to play one. At least not enough people to sustain the game long term.
I feel bad for anyone who pays the $30 because within the first year it'll go f2p just like this one is.

Majority of the negative reviews are from before recent patches.
The devs have addressed majority of peoples issues now and the game deserves more praise. If you played it before and for whatever reason are just cruising the reviews, go play it again and give it some more time especially with the changes and increased performance.
Today they are dropping another hotfix which makes THREE already. They are very proactive in fixing the game immediately.

Game finally works.
Game is better than Diablo.
Game is cheaper than Diablo.
Game is more fun than Diablo.
Game doesn't have devs that steal breast milk. I'm sure at some point they'll have some drama in their company, but I can almost guarantee both my nuts that no other company is going to have breast milk stolen.

It's unfortunate ArrowHead were in the middle of this but they also mishandled the situation to start with. So they aren't entirely blameless and so complaints sent their way were not unwarranted. But now it's back to normal and democracy has won again. So now let's just enjoy it before Snoy comes back around.

The fact that so many games need to learn this lesson these days is tragic. You'd think by now that would just be the standard. Even games funded by Tencent (league/valorant) are region locked. That should say enough.
Discord mods are actively defending it by saying "It's just people PRETENDING to be Chinese" It's pretty tragic over there.
I know not everyone with a chinese name is a cheater and/or actually chinese. That doesn't mean it isn't the overwhelming majority. I highly doubt that many people are just pretending to be from over there.

While the game is super fun, the ONLY reason I cannot recommend is because no matchmaking. I'm sure (hopefully) on launch this will be added or some kind of lobby system. Currently only way to play with others is to get their room code. Which means using discord or anywhere else you can find the community of this game.
It's 2023 this should no longer even be a thing. Every game that has a multiplayer function should have a room or matchmaking system in place.
Some people love these games by themselves, I do not. I much prefer to play with randoms/people. I don't have many friends irl that game as much/often as I do so being able to quickly find a match at any point by just clicking a button is mandatory for me. I understand this is just the "demo" essentially so lots can change, but I feel like the multiplayer is a pretty big chunk of the experience for some people and not being able to test it's stability isn't a great sign. If it isn't implemented at launch then I won't be playing/buying.
This isn't a deal breaker for all that many people, but it is for me.

Game looks like garbage in 2023 not really acceptable. And not like it's artistic, it just looks like garbage.
Game is 3v3, way too small. Game is unbalanced and has been through PLENTY of beta tests. Mostly everything in those betas has been thrown out and the game is infinitely worse for it.
If you have zero brain power and can't compete in other similar titles that require skill and actually PLAY decently, then this is the game for you. Are you some trash 12 year old with no real gaming skill yet? You can still pull off a few wins here at least.
Wasn't expecting much though. It is just another Nexon game and let's be honest, whens the last time they did something good? Besides old school Maplestory and Vindictus at launch? Both of which are literal decades behind us at this point.
Nexon is just RAW, PURE, Korean gaming greed at it's finest. The fact communities over there embrace this and like horrid microtransactions blows my mind. While this isn't p2w YET, all nexon games go that route sooner or later.
This game genre is already VERY niche, this game will capture no one. If you want a similar game that will maintain a player base for a few years, this isn't it. And lets not even get into not being able to pick your own game modes or servers. Getting placed in China servers with people whom don't even speak English is always FANTASTIC for cooperative games. Very cool!

Game is still absolute garbage. Still bad load times, still FPS drops, still not even good FPS. Mind you, I play infinitely more demanding games on a regular basis at 90-120 fps 1440p. Such as Cyberpunk.
There is NO UNIVERSE in which this game, looking the way that it does, should be running at anything under absolute maximum FPS.
Now that multiplayer is gone, you have legitimately NO reason to purchase or try this game. No matter what, it's not worth the asking price. There are much better games at the price point that you would legitimately be pretty dumb to put the money in this one. Last few years have been absolutely amazing for gaming, you have tons of options with way more fleshed out stories, way better performance, infinitely better itemization, and way better boss design.
This game has been dead for awhile now, but this was a possible chance to bring it back. They failed. Not their fault, but they still failed. In the end doesn't matter why you failed or how. All that matters is you failed.

This game is STILL an absolute dumpster fire in terms of performance.
Do yourself a favor, sail the high seas. I got this for free with my GPU upgrade and I still want a refund. This is so pathetic.
