Heaven's Vault is a game I recommend to anyone who enjoys a mystery. The games protagonist, Aliya, is a space archeologist who is given a mission to find a lost college who may have uncovered a startling find. Throughout the story it becomes increasingly clear that the ancient civilizations were vastly more technology advanced than their modern day and Aliya must figure out what happened. The intrigue of uncovering the past never really went away. Right up until the end I was discovering new secrets about this fascinating universe.

The story is truly a branching narrative. Almost every decision you make will effect the story in a way. Half way through the game I uploaded a consciousness into my robot that I was supposed to take back out but I messed up and the basterds actually had my robot stay that way for the rest of the game. They had new dialog and everything.

The main mechanic of the game is the ability to try (and fail) to translate the long forgotten language. I found putting together competent sentences enjoyably challenging. As I progressed and built my vocabulary I found that even after building a competent sentence there was no guarantee it was actually correct.

My only grip is the travel system which while beautiful, did get old after a while. However the devs released a patch that let you fast travel so this is no longer really an issue.

This game is phenomenal. The mystery is interesting and the story is engrossing. The puzzles at the end were especially fun to solve. I do however have a few gripes with the game. There was a few times where I was given no direction at all and i had to wander the hole abby for hours untill I found the minuscule object in an out of the way room. The camra consently switching orientation was also a bit jarring. However, over all this game was a blast to play.

Its a good time waster when if your bored. The game can get repetitive at times, just throwing a bait in and waiting, but thats true for normal fishing as well. Would be cool if you could see the fish on the line, or move around in the water, But for a free game this is a real solid experience
