Why traps aren't gay
Gay men don't usually (I use that word because every gay person I have talked to said they didn't, but I don't like to use certainties, there could perhaps be some who do) like traps, futanari, or transsexual women because they see them as women or close enough to women.
Another similar and slightly unrelated thing is that Yaoi is not that many if not most gay men don't like Yaoi, it's actually made for straight women, and even some bisexual and straight men like it because the guys in the manga don't look and/or act as masculine as men in real life.
The kind of manga that gay men tend to like are called Bara, and the men in those manga are obviously with no ambiguity male.
If anybody has seen Oreimo, they might have seen that girl that is into gay games, the themes are much the same way, Another example of something like it is the cho Aniki series.

Now, they are technically games with little to no story content as far as I know, but if you get one look at even the covers of those games, you'll see heavily musclebound dudes, and the games themselves are filled with such imagery that could easily be intended for gay male audiences (though I suppose that others could enjoy them as they are shooters).
My point is, gay men aren't just after the♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ There's far more to the male body and/or the male gender that draws gay men and to dumb it down to being attracted to the male genitals miss labels a lot of people.
Studies have actually been done on human sexuality, and even straight males are sexually stimulated by seeing an erect♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ even though they often don't realize it or want to admit it.
