I've only gotten through the beginning aspects of the game at the moment but I am blown away, probably my favorite introduction to a FF game since X, has the potential to be my favorite even surpassing X. There are some performance issues, the biggest thing I've found that helps is changing from DLSS to FSR. If I find more performance enhancing tips, I will update this review to include them. I have noticed it seems to have a bit of a CPU bottleneck, my GPU doesn't seem to be being utilized very much while it is nearly maxing out my CPU. This might be an issue with my machine rather than the game, but it's something to keep in mind and is what I'm mainly trying to figure out how to fix to get the performance issues smoothed further.

You have no real autonomy, the game is very linear so you're not influencing anything just watching a series of events with no variation. If you try to influence things in a positive way, the game says you're boring. It might be interesting if there were branching paths but there's not.

Lying company who intentionally cucks their supporters and waits out the refund policy to bait and switch players who otherwise would not have bought the game knowing they would not be able to play it. Now that they've comfortably gotten the money out of the "suckers" they've implemented a policy which essentially makes it so they can no longer play a game they have paid for.

This is a good game.

It's fine as far as empires games are concerned. The "open world map" that everyone complains about doesn't have to be used, but if you do use it it's mostly for making money and rations by wandering around killing bandits and wildlife so it's not entirely useless. But it is mostly useless, so if you're looking for a rich open world you won't find it here. Despite this, the core gameplay loop is fine if empires style game are what you like.
