A lot of great new ideas and mechanics, some of the best areas, weapons, armors and spells' designs I've seen in any Souls game, and I'd dare say even more freedom than it's predecesor when it comes to exploration and builds, specially the latter.

On the other side, we have even clunkier controls than DS1, no attention at how the areas connect to each other (ily Iron Keep in the sky), and some very, very bad decisions (seriously, who thought making the estus flask regenerate health instead of instantly healing was a good idea).

The game got a rather bad reputation early on that has maintained ever since, but it's really not as bad as many people make it out to be, if at all. It can be frustrating at times, specially the early game, but eventually you learn to enjoy the good, laugh at the bad, and embrace the chaos the game offers. A very fun experience overall.

Is it the best Souls game ever made? Hell no, not by a long shot. But it isn't a bad game either. It has it's strengths and it's very clear flaws, but what game isn't flawed anyway.

I deffinitely recommend to give the game a chance. Specially If you're like me, and avoided it for a long time because of the bad reputation, trust me, you won't be disappointed. One way or another.

Fantastic game, with a fine balance between cozyness and horror. Both the sound and artistic designs are incredible, and make the game absolutely terrifying at times, which I didn't expect at all, and loved when I found myself in those situations. All in all a really fun, beautiful, and eerie (in a good way) experience.
