Dude. It’s been a few months since I’ve played this now, and let me tell you it had me ABSORBED you oughta call me spongebob.

I was strategically siphoning any free time I had into playing this game, just walking in circles with a literal pen and paper noting down details, drawing connections on the map like a conspiracy theorist, and the crazy part is IT ALWAYS LED TO SOMETHING. Play this game, and do it without a guide. The discovery is actually one of the most magical feelings I’ve had playing a game I thought peter pan was gonna come in and make me float away.

Guys the combat in this game is SO GOOD! Believe me man, I’ve never had more fun with a parry system and by the end of the game I wasn’t even attacking anymore, my ass was just parry spamming til everyone died.

The story is also very interesting to watch unfold, Yi is a fully formed character who knows exactly what’s going on and you’ve just gotta sit there killing guys whilst the game slowly clues you in to what’s going on, and it’s beautifully ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. Constantly made me flip flop as to whether or not me stabbing all these guys was morally correct or not, which is something I often struggle with in my real life.

Play this masterpiece man! Do it!

Listen guys, I’ve never played the original RE4 and you’d be well within your rights to hang me for that. But irregardless of that I can tell you this is a good ass game! The combat is fun! I like the cheese! I like shooting Blue Medallions… more blue medallions… get all… the blue… medallions. But why the HELL can’t i live execute the merchant?

Pretty damn good! It’s another game in the ever present “mascot horror” subgenre, but I think this game nails the somewhat creepy atmosphere without ever trying too hard to be scary. It plays with the ridiculous setting and never tries to make it something it’s not, and instead of focusing on trying to scare you it aims for making the puzzles and exploration fun which I think it succeeds at.

My main issue is that the combat feels a bit wonky since your melee attack animation makes it hard to gauge your range, and a lack of a crosshair is never fun for shooting IMO (although maybe theres a crosshair option in the settings? I haven’t checked). However this complaint is minor as combat isn’t really a major component of the game, you just smack a guy a few times and are done - overall, I’m having fun.
