There are a lot of strong points in favor of picking this game up if you're thinking about it:
-First off the art direction is simply beautiful, it's hard to overstate how cohesive and appealing to me the setting/art style is to me, although I do understand that is subjective, I'll say that unless you have baggage about this style for some reason there's nothing to avoid here

-Secondly, the combat is imho the perfect balance of streamlined and fiddly to function as a complement for the cooking portion. The monster designs are fun and (especially on hard) the tough ones are a serious enough threat to make taking them down an interesting decision.

-The Cooking minigame is VERY satisfying to me, balancing multiple dishes with the matching mechanics and shifting them from oven to pan to cutting board like a delicious fox, sheep, cabbage riddle is delicious to me.
I think it is very appropriate that the cooking gameplay is one of the strongest parts.

-Finally, while the story is short (and to me it felt like there was meant to be a lot more to it) there are strong bones there, the story still works epecially with regards to the main character who I found myself quite fond of (Thrash too :) )

Altogether, although it is by no means perfect(although no game will ever be obvi), Battle Chef Brigade a very appealing game with a satisfying cumulative experience and If you feel inclined I would STRONGLY suggest you try it out.

I would say this game scratches the same kind of itch as portal for me, it may lose out on some of the replay-ability, but the storytelling, atmosphere and honestly emotional impact it had on me is one I'm glad to have received. If you have any love for puzzlers, discovering a story through expedition, or just exploration on it's own I would strongly recommend this game.

Early Access Review
First off, obviously early access, and there are a LOT of issues, characters speaking without moving their mouths, weird animations during conversation, cutscenes sometimes have very poor graphical quality however I've only noticed that in one cutscene. As for story it is compelling and the characters are interesting, gameplay is also solid, good translation of 5e mechanics into a game. Basically if you liked divinity 2 get this, if you like bioware rpgs get this, if you like dnd 5e I would say get this game, however If you have trepidations I won't judge for waiting past early access and it's always compelling to wait for a sale.

First off, While the RNG can be more than a little frustrating at times, if you like minesweeper, or crave a game that can keep you occupied while still providing a nice sense of progression. The artwork is pretty, and the musics always fitting! If you buy this game at full price, you might have a worthwhile purchase, If you buy it on sale, you've definitely gotten your money's worth!

Edit: after a while of playing my opinion has changed considerably, the rng in this game is an utter utter plague.
I still recommend it, but the red thumb makes me feel better

While Celeste is Of a higher class when it comes to difficulty, the beautiful animation and soundtrack to match make it more than a worthwhile purchase. And if you're worried about the difficulty gating the experience from you, fret not! the assist mode will allow you to tailor the difficulty as you see fit, so go on and climb that mountain already!!

The Blackout Club may not boast triple a graphics, but the unique horror it offers is absolutely worth it, especially if you play with friends.
