No Man’s Sky – From “meh” to masterpiece: A journey through the universe’s comeback

When No Man’s Sky launched in 2016 for PS4, it was like unwrapping a long-anticipated gift only to find a knitted sweater instead of the sci-fi fantasy you were promised. The game vowed to deliver the universe—literally—but instead offered a handful of broken promises. Fast-forward to today on Steam, and this game has transformed from “one small step for gaming” to “one giant leap for space adventures.”

What has changed?
Everything. The game has grown at a pace that makes me suspect Hello Games either has a time machine or an army of clones. What started as a monotonous grind for resources and a frustration-filled survival sim has become a rich sandbox full of opportunities. It’s like the tiny seed I planted on PS4 has finally blossomed—and wow, what a flower!

Gameplay:
Exploration remains the heart of the game, but now it truly feels like an adventure. Each planet has its own unique charm, and the possibilities are practically endless: build bases, tame alien creatures, dive into oceans teeming with bioluminescent lifeforms, or simply cruise the galaxies in your spaceship like an intergalactic pioneer.

Graphics and Sound:
The graphics have received a massive glow-up, making you want to pause and soak in the horizon. The sound design, from the eerie ambient noises to the roar of your ship’s engine, brings the universe to life, as vibrant and immersive as a homegrown landscape—except with 100% more aliens.

Ratings and criteria:
Exploration: 🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌 (5/5)
This game is all about discovery, and you can explore forever without feeling bored.
Creativity: 🛠️🛠️🛠️🛠️🛠️ (5/5)
Build anything, anywhere—on land, underwater, or even in space.
Multiplayer: 👥👥👥👥 (4/5)
Playing with others enhances the experience, though co-op can occasionally feel a bit clunky.
Story: 📖📖📖 (3/5)
The narrative has improved but remains more of a backdrop than a focal point.
Graphics: 🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨 (5/5)
The worlds are stunningly beautiful—each one could double as desktop wallpaper.
Conclusion:
If you, like me, were once a skeptic, let me tell you: the universe is vast enough for second chances. No Man’s Sky isn’t just a game—it’s an art form, an escape from reality, and a journey that’s as thrilling as uncovering a forgotten cultural treasure in your own backyard.

Who needs sci-fi movies when you can create your own?

Buy it. Experience it. And revel in the fact that you’re no longer alone in this endless universe.

A very good game that combines the tactics of real time strategy with the depth of the 4X genre. Picked up my copy during the winter sale for about 9 euros, worth every penny! :)
