With this game requiring an SSD, I was unable to play,
So I dismissed it as an Overwatch clone and called it a day.
But with friends insisting I give it a try, come what may,
I upgraded my SSD and found it surpassed Overwatch in every way.

Less than 1GB in size as of writing, loads from Steam to in the game in seconds and can run on practically anything with Directx 11 support. Seriously, I love their game engine.

Areas are closed off grids that make you feel like you're in a living tabletop board.

Good music and great ambience sounds.

Your character can grind when you're offline, which is awesome.

Good monetisation model, provided they can keep up with monthly or bi monthly content. If not, a one time purchase per episode would be more appropriate.

Really enjoying this game even though I'm 30 hours in and haven't purchased a membership yet.

Room For Improvement

Social interaction is minimal. You see people running around and can talk to them. Though I did see a two person saw which I think is a cool mechanic and there are probably other minor multiplayer mechanics I haven't seen yet.

There is currently an issue with area instancing where you can't return to the same people you were talking to if the area is full after you try to leave and return. It would be pretty easy to dedicate some space to returning players so hopefully this gets addressed soon.

Gameplay is just item collecting and crafting to increase your level, which I enjoy, but there needs to be more behind the leveling system for the activities to feel worth doing. Currently it's just to satisfy quest objectives and unlock new things to craft or collect, which is fine in other MMOs, but when this is the core gameplay there should be more.

Each section of the game (known as episodes) has it's own leveling and equipment. I like putting the focus of professions in their respective episodes but the game would feel more polished if once you unlocked the profession there was the occasional need to use it outside that episode to prevent the episodes from feeling isolated from each other. For example, once you unlock woodcutting it would be nice to be able to discover trees in episode 1 to cut down, while still keeping the focus of woodcutting on episode 2.

Oxenfree was such a great game that I never felt it needed a sequel even with the cliffhanger ending. It set a high bar, and I was skeptical about how a follow-up could live up to the original. While the sequel isn’t quite as strong as the first, it makes enough meaningful changes to stand on its own and still delivers a solid experience.

I recommend getting this on Netflix if you've played the first and you or someone you know already have a subscription.

Best gacha game I've ever played (I know the bar isn't too high). You can easily dish out 20-40 hours without spending a cent, maybe more. That is really high considering the gameplay is actually fun. In addition to this it has:

1. Gorgeous 2.5D graphics akin to something like Octopath traveler

2. Your characters show up in this chalet type environment you can walk around in

3. Fun gameplay

4. Cross platform and controller support for both PC and mobile.

I have all these positive things to say yet I have barely touched the main campaign mode.

I'm gonna make a baseless claim and say this is the best god simulator.

You can place people, they'll build civilisations. Every little character has it's own stats, health, hunger, traits. Civilisations can form alliances or go to war with each other. You watch these little dudes and form a bond with them. Then you can demolish them like little ants, either quick and painlessly or slow torture.

I really like what I've played/seen so far. I recommend waiting for the full release but it doesn't hurt to pick this up early as the game is in a pretty solid state.
