An improvement (or expansion, perhaps!) on Kind Words, it completely succeeds in setting me at ease after work. The lofi is relaxing, the art style soft and pleasant to look at... and people are kind. None of us may know one another, nor will we ever, but we still reach out to one another and offer words of encouragement.

Some people would have you believe that being mean and dominating is in our nature, but Kind Words proves otherwise. We can all love each other.

Darkest Dungeon is about f****** your s*** up. Quests will fail or must be abandoned. Heroes will die. And when they die, they stay dead. Progress autosaves constantly, so actions are permanent. Because f*** you, and f*** your bad choices.

The game will make you rage quit.
Because f*** you.

Thankfully, there are always dips***s arriving on the stage coach, seeking the mercy of deaths sweet embrace. And when they die, they stay dead.
Because f*** you.

Wasteland 3 may not be the longest RPG there is (the last area of the game feels a little unfinished, like we could have had more content with the Eastern Gangs), but it is definitively one of the best out there. Following the story of the Desert Rangers in the wake of their costly victory at the end of Wasteland 2, the third installment of the series does away with some of the more unfair elements of its predecessor, streamlining the experience without sacrificing the soul of the series. The stakes are high, the Wasteland unforgiving, but the game manages to inject some light-heartedness and humor at times I found very, very welcome indeed.

Murphy's law is an adage or epigram that is typically stated as: "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." In some formulations, it is extended to "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong, and at the worst possible time."

Okay, so let me get this straight.

The game is... barely getting 60 FPS on Medium settings with an RTX 3060. Performance issues are noted in several other reviews of the game (reinforcing my belief that this is a widespread issue and not an issue on my end) along with crashes. Naturally, the microtransactions cash shop is up and running without any issues, even though the gear and progression system feels unfinished - and presents itself as a clear downgrade of Vermintide II's.

Let that sink in: Fatshark listened to precisely NONE of the feedback from their previous game and went ahead to make a system worse than the one where I had to reroll stats until I got what I wanted in some half-baked RNG system. And their justification for this is that ''lore wise'', we wouldn't be able to make weapons, so the solution is to check in at the store whenever the item pool changes. Considering the game's weapon variety, you might end up waiting a while to get the weapon you want with half-decent stats.

That is without mentioning the story - or lack thereof. It was bound to happen with a create your own character system, but good lord, Vermintide 2 had compelling characters and a main overarching plot - here, you can sort of feel what they were going for with the snippets of what Dan Abnett gave them, but it's all just... spread out over one minute cutscenes as you level, consisting of people talking to your character then telling them to ♥♥♥♥ off.

EDIT: The Class Rework update hit. The game is definitively in a better place now, but there is still a long way to go for me to call it good.

The UI is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage, I am getting constantly bombarded with needless UI elements. Despite some of the best classes in an MMO, I cannot quite recommend it.

The game's balancing is all over the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ place, the ''writing'' just reads like someone masturbating with one hand and making a plot with the other, and the patch notes reveal how much of an unhinged person the dev is. Then there's the fact that key game components are resold as DLC... the only good thing about this game is the soundtrack.

It's not really my cup of tea but the devs are decent human beings who put up a special bundle deal in order to fund humanitarian organisations attempting to help with the ongoing war in Ukraine.
