Ridiculously addicting gameplay loop. Difficulty ramp up is just right.

Base game is fun, but too many RNG and other predatory tactics like lootboxes. Avoid it like a plague

I've played this game since its open beta in 2013. Took some time off and on between each updates and somehow ended up with 900 hours of gameplay. There's a couple of things I want to talk about it.

Pros:
- The game is F2P. Aside from the Founder's package which contain the Founder exclusives, everything else is available for crafting and collecting if you spend enough of time grinding.
- Fun and challenging game modes that can keep players entertained for a long time.
- Massive modding system, allowing you to freely customize your warframes and weapons the way you want. Feel like the gun's too slow? Slap that fire rate mod on. Need extra magazine? You can mod it no problem.
- Consistent lore. Not a lot of people talk about this, but Warframe have some good backstory. The characters are memorable and consistenly appearing in events or missions. Bosses are constantly fleshed out as year go by to add more into their personality which is fantastic.
- Developers respond to the player base fast

That said, some of its positive point is its downfall. After spending so much time in this game, i'd say I'm not recommending it to someone who's not a hardcore grinder or a completionist.

Cons:
- The game is F2P. Yes, that's the negative thing about Warframe. Because everything is free, the developer have to somehow entice people into microtransaction. So? they make the game as grindy as they can. Players either have to spend a huge amount of time grinding to progress or throw some cash to bypass the grindwall. And believe me, eventhough you technically don't have to, you'll be REALLY tempted to spend money on this game.

- The RNG is bad along with super diluted drop-table. The drop table in this game is getting more and more diluted after each new content. Instead of spreading the loots evenly across the game. They just scram all the new stuffs into one already packed mission to increase the RNG (and frustration). There's one piece of part that you need to complete your set? Good look pulling it out from the mission with 7 other parts mixed in.

- The game is time-gated. It's not for impatient player. There are resources which decays over time and resource that only appears at a specific time everyday day so you can't stockpile. If you're a busy worker or a student, you might only get 1 each day if you're lucky. The game is increasingly demanding for those resources to craft new stuffs, so it could take months to craft a specific gear you want.

- The Developer have a backward mentality. While overall, they're quick to respond to the community, Digital Extreme somehow have a one step forward two steps back tendency. Sometimes when they say they'll do or fix something, they'll do the complete opposite, much to the player's dismays. Recently the player base has been complaining about the grind fatigue and DE responds by saying they're aware of it and is looking to fix the issue. Only to further increase the grind right after by adding new contents into aforementioned diluted drop-tables together with inflated crafting cost. Their respond? Recommending you to some loot-cave spots to grind the mats and politely tell you to deal with it. Yes, that is their official respond


Overall, Warframe is a fantastic game. If not, I wouldn't have played it this long. Just be aware that the grind is real and you'll most likely burned out really quick. Just take a long hard break and comeback a few updates later like me. If you're someone who don't mind grinding or with any issues I've mentioned then do give this game a try.
