I don't normally play deckbuilders but decided to give Across the Obelisk a chance since my partner seemed keen on the game. I don't regret my decision because I've had a great time with the game so far both with solo and co-op play. I purchased Amelia the Queen DLC before the base game even finished installing because I tend to play magic casters/supports in games.

The base game difficulty felt challenging enough to keep me interested and I'm looking forward to experiencing higher madness levels in the future. The art style and spell animations are pleasant to my eyes and I enjoy the in game music enough so I don't have a need to mute it. Variety of event nodes throughout the Acts kept the game interesting even after multiple play throughs. If you're considering purchasing the game, I suggest you go in blind like I did. The thrill and excitement from exploration, discovery and unexpected achievements has made my experience very pleasant so far.

I bought the base game Sept 2019, played for roughly 15 hours and didn't touch the game again until a couple of days ago.
I enjoy Fell Seal a lot more now with Missions and Monsters dlc since it alleviates my main issue with the base game. Early game grinding the same map for hours on end, farming gp & ap felt tedious and painful for me.

Missions and Monsters allows you to passively farm items, gp and ap with lvl 1 recruits through missions while your main story characters are free to do whatever. I have different sets of characters, depending on what I want to accomplish with them. I have main story chars which goes through content while I have another set of lvl 1 recruits who are benched the entire time, who complete missions (not the ones that give exp) in order to "be the very best like no one ever was" while I progress through the game.

If you're crazy like me and wish to master all the classes on multiple lvl 1 recruits without having to pay gp to "Reset to lvl 1" for each char, which can be quite a fortune if you need to reset a lot of chars, then you'll love this dlc. My benched lvl 1 recruits have just as much, if not more, class progression as my main story characters without grinding a single Crossroads map for ap.

Imo, guild upgrades are necessary and a nice bonus if you complete a lot of repeat missions. There are also nice buffs for patrols.

One of the new classes, Wrangler, has the ability to tame monsters. I've only tamed two monsters so far, I gotta catch 'em all.

If you just started playing the base game and enjoy it, I highly recommend this dlc to further enhance your experience. If you can pick it up on sale, even better.

I wish there was a neutral recommendation option instead of just "Yes" or "No". I'm not completely sold on the base game as a full recommendation because I personally feel like Missions should be part of the base game. Anyway, I've had the game since Sept 2019 but only played the game for roughly around 15 hours at the time and haven't touched it again until a couple of days ago.

Started playing again, decided to buy the Missions and Monsters dlc and playing on "Very Hard" difficulty setting. To simply put, I've been having a blast. I'm taking my time with my story characters and farming ap/gp through the new missions on my lvl 1 recruits. I might be crazy but I'm determined to unlock and master (legit way) all base human classes on my recruits. Being able to collect (tame) and battle with monsters like a Pokemon trainer is quite nostalgic for me. Customization for monsters is also a plus. Enough about the dlc, I'll probably write a separate review for that later.

Base game pros for me:
-Class/Abilities system similar to FFT
-Decent music, I keep it on while playing
-The combat maps are varied and pleasing to the eyes
-Combat is engaging and fun (at least on "Very Hard" setting)
-Flexible difficulty settings which you can customize to fit you
-I like being able to upgrade the items you have through crafting
-Likable main characters, at least the ones I've encountered so far
-Solid story, nothing jaw dropping amazing but interesting enough
-Decent character customization for recruits, could be improved though

Base game cons for me:
-Limited accessory and facial hair customization options
-Farming gp & ap without Missions and Monster dlc can be painful

I enjoy Fell Seal a lot more with Missions and Monsters dlc since it alleviates my main con for the base game.

Early Access Review
This is my very first review for any game, I just feel compelled to do it!

My first impression of Stonehearth after watching their video wasn't good. This is my very first uh I don't know what to call it, 2D-pixel voxel game? Anyway, I was a bit turned off by it. I've always avoided minecraft for that reason. Also, the price of $24.99 for this type of game seemed a bit too much for me. Anyway, I spent a couple of weeks thinking about it, watched their intro video at least 4 times and finally caved and bought the game the other night.

Stonehearth has been such a delight to play. I thoroughly enjoy the job/class and advancement systems. I love the cuteness that is the game, even the boxy critters and animals are adorable. Building your own homes can be quite a challenge, which adds to the fun for me. I also love being able to use a building template the game provides and customize it to my own preference if I'm too lazy to create my own. I love renaming my citizens! I love that I can assign them to their own beds! I love that the cook helps my farmer harvest the fields :D As you can see, I enjoy a lot of the little features in Stonehearth which is why I felt compelled to make this review and share my experience with others.

If you enjoy survival/strategy city-builders with cute pets and citizens + job/class advancements, then I highly suggest this game to you. Imo, this is one of those games that's worth the price tag. I love what the developers have done with the game so far and I'm happy to support this early access title.
