Played the zoo puzzle several times getting stuck at the same spot. Eventually realized the clue "the panda lives in the rocky area" is just plain wrong. Using the reveal tile option it shows that the panda does not live there but in fact the elephant. If you cant trust the clues to be right the game is inherently broken.

So late to the game, but I've literally been wanting to play this since I saw a friend play the demo. This game was right up my alley in terms of the kind of vibe I was looking for. It has a lot of fun bits that remind me of Undertale while also having the darker atmosphere of games like Earthbound and Yume Nikki. It even has a very not so subtle nod to Yume Nikki towards the end which was greatly appreciated . I loved the shift from the dreamworld to the real world and how they made that feel different. Stabbing Aubrey with the knife was like "Oh yeah! I shouldn't do that when I'm awake!" And then simply getting scolded by Kel for stabbing her, that made me laugh. This game did not disappoint even after the long wait. The story was awesome and engaging at least for like the first 80%.

That being said, I feel like they didn't really push the unique emotions based combat mechanics as far as they could have. I feel like I mostly just got into a rhythm of using the same strategies over and over and the game didn't really force me to try new things very often. Even in boss fights where the enemies would often take on extreme emotions as higher forms of regular emotions I felt like I could just brute force and heal until I won. The only other complaint I could possibly give is that the ending kind of drags for a bit. Also, at first I thought the goal was to collect all the hangman pieces. I'm a little upset that I can't scratch that completionist itch and collect all the letters in one run, but it becomes more important in multiple playthroughs apparently. I've only played one run so far, but I'll definitely come back and play the alternate routes at some point in the future.

Horribly irreverent in a way that you don't really see much anymore. This game is definitely pushing boundaries while still making a statement on both being a woman and bullying. It's a little repetitive if you're trying to get all the endings, but all in all I was still able to unlock everything in one sitting and it's got a lot of interesting decisions packed into such a short amount of in game days. This game gets dark really quick so be prepared for that. Not trying to spoil anything, but the trailer video kinda tells you a lot about what to expect. It's kind of just the start.

A good throwback to my high school days. I never finished it back then and I was wondering how the controls would handle since I originally played it on the Wii, but this is totally as good as I remember, if not better. Definitely gonna finish it this time.

I somehow managed to play this game in one sitting. I don't know that it was intended to be played like that, but for what it's worth: I was sleeping on this game for several years and I'm glad I finally picked it up, It was so worth the $10. The combat was interesting and fun.

Also, the few little puzzle sections they had outside of combat were fun.

TL;DR: Two good games are good. + Jack Black and Pendleton Ward.

A fun sequel to the original. The Pendleton Ward Easter egg was really funny and I couldn't believe that was a real thing until I saw it for myself. Also, Jack Black is in it!?! That's awesome.

Yes, I realize this review is just selling a game on "x celebrity was in it", but it's a sequel. It feels like a sequel and it doesn't feel like they were trying to do any more or less than the original. Sometimes that's not a bad thing. If you liked the first, you'll probably like this one too. If you had some complaints about the first, this one probably won't address them in any meaningful way. I'm not complaining. I just can't place this as being any better or worse than the original and that's okay. If anything I respect that more than trying and failing to do better.

Such a good game! I really can't understate how well made this game is. The mechanics are so unique. I've never played anything like this before. The art is just stunning. The only thing I could complain about is that it kind of ends just as you reach mastery over all languages. I really wish there was more to explore at the end; more chances to use everything you've learned. Without that, it kinda just feels like the hero could've really been anyone and it doesn't feel like they need to be the master of anything. It feels like the difference between backpacking in a foreign country versus living there for a while. If the game wanted to make me feel like the master, it should've done the latter. Also, the stealth feels just a little out of place.

As a cishet man who basically lives under a rock, I appreciate Don't Nod for making games that challenge my perspective in a way that isn't judgmental and showcases that everyone has both good and bad parts. It may be just my hot take that Life is Strange walked so Life Is Strange II could run. Tell Me Why is yet another game that knocks it out of the park. I literally played the entire game in like two days. I was a little surprised that there were only 3 chapters opposed to the usual 5, but I feel like they delivered the story they were trying to tell, and there is some replayability even if it's just finding the remaining collectibles and reading the remaining stories.

I've had this game in my backlog for quite a while, and going into it I knew the ending already. I won't spoil anything for anyone else, but it's definitely one of those games where the ending really brings the whole story together. The combat is interesting and the puzzles feel unique. It's definitely a game worth playing if you can.

I really enjoy games that tackle mental health topics with the level of respect they deserve, and this game really delves into schizophrenia in a way that makes it really palpable for the rest of us to understand. This game was truly a highlight of my year, and I can't wait to play the next one.

I played the demo of this game before buying the full version, and let me start by saying that the demo leaves off right before things go from 60 to 100. I was not expecting the story that was told here, but I am not at all disappointed. This game starts on a serious note and gets progressively more dark as time goes on. I played the whole game in about 7 hours without realizing how much time had passed. The music mini-games were fun, the end game content was a breathe of fresh air. A few moments actually made me jump, but overall the vibe is more suspenseful than scary. Tackles mature topics with the appropriate gravity and respect. All around I don't have any complaints about this game. I'd recommend anyone with the maturity to play it, do so.
