This game provides essentially endless hours of things to do, but not all of those things are "fun" for everyone. I think it's important to seek what you enjoy out of a game, seek that here, and leave the rest behind. Once I focused on only what I myself really cared about, this game became so much fun and I can't stop playing it.

As far as I can tell, there is no reason to do EVERYTHING in this game that it offers, nor does it tell you, that you should do that. Anyone who is jumping into this game and wants to play into everything it has to offer will probably find many parts lacking, or even boring at times. And although the game rewards you for going the extra mile in doing the "side" things, from what I have experienced, there is no punishment for just ignoring some parts. I'm 100hrs in and only looked at the settlement piece one time. It wasn't for me, i moved on and kept playing what I wanted. I have encountered no issues. I have all the resources I need, I have the ships that I want, and I have my guns upgraded as high as I care about.

Bottom line, you can probably do what you love to do in games, in this game, but if you stray outside of that, you might not have the experience you were looking for.
