put yourself in my shoes. You wanted to get your friend a nice Christmas gift. Friend loves trees, get him this game simple right? Here's where it gets better. This is not simple game. I've seen the truth. This IS without a doubt government propaganda. But not the United States Government no no no no. This is the Tree government's outreach program. Their goal? To convince you to join them in the forest. And gosh darn what I would give to become a nice oak right now. Perhaps a dog wood, or a spruce, or maybe a birch. I'm telling you, this game will in fact change your life.

I think this is by far one of the best if not the best civil war games or musket era strategy games available. The battles remind me a lot of ultimate general as well as the way you set up armies. I think there could definitely be more customization in forming or reinforcing units (like different numbers), though this may be in the game and I just don't know how to do it. The game is VERY complicated, and the tutorials don't do a brilliant job at teaching you everything in a quick manner, though that is hard to do with this kind of game. The campaign for e is very reminiscent of the Total War series, which I love. There is a lot to customize too, kind of like a paradox game though less complicated then most of those. Anyway let me end this with a quick note. If you have played Empire Total War and could stand the bugginess of those battle you will be just fine with these battles. I saw some reviews complaining about bugs, but I've encountered only ONE battle where something BS happened.

TL;DR
combination of total war, paradox, and ultimate general. Very good, less buggy than Empire Total War.
