I've barely played it and this game slaps, especially for the price tag (but I got it on sale anyways). The main thing I wanted to mention was this: It is hard. BUT DON'T LET THAT DETER YOU! There is an easy mode free DLC if you're having trouble. If you're wondering just how hard it could be, imagine hard mode (the easiest mode) being Ultra-Violence on doom. If you're one of the crack-heads that has a reaction time twice as fast as the average person, you'll be right at home here. However, as a casual gamer, you will die. A lot. But I highly recommend giving at least hard mode your absolute best shot! Don't give up, after all it is the way the devs intended the game to be played.

The one way I can put this game bluntly is that it feels exactly like a movement shooter like doom or turbo overkill, but 2D.
Good luck and have fun :D

I loved this game when I played it. Performance has always been bad, but considering this game started more as an experiment than an actual game, it was very much forgivable. However, the performance has not only remained abysmal, it's gotten worse to the point where it's down-right unplayable. Every community note has people mentioning the same thing in the comments, and I'm sick and tired of devs that don't take notice of something until everyone starts review bombing their game.

I cannot in good conscious recommend the game in its current state. Adding new features is all well and good, but it doesn't matter if no one can play the game above 20fps without a NASA super computer. It feels like this issue will never get addressed with how prevalent it's been since launch.

I bought this game with very few expectations after a family member (one who I never expected to play a game like this) mentioned it to me. The screenshots and the way the gameplay looks on video is horrible, I expected a game with extreme jank in every department, many bugs, and overall it honestly looked like a somewhat high-quality asset flip.

Despite every instinct telling me not to, I bought the game for almost full price.

Now, let me get the bad stuff out of the way: Multiplayer. (That's pretty much it, if you want multiplayer this game can't handle bearable multiplayer quite yet.) Now onto the good stuff because I don't really care much for multiplayer.

This game focuses on one of the great things about the survival genre, and it nails it: a gradual and paced progression system in a sandbox world full of freedom to do whatever you want. Obviously pve is a pretty big part of games like this, however the combat system is nothing special, but still unique in its own small ways and engaging enough to keep casual players and hardcore players alike enjoying the game. There are base raids from enemies which you can turn up, down or off according to your preferences, and a lot of this game's progression is based on preparation. That being said, you should prepare both short term and long term.

Prepare food and water along with other resources needed for the day ahead of exploring and resource-gathering, or prepare your base for raids. Prepare for harder enemies by always researching new technology before attacking, or being attacked. Even in late game, you still need many basic resources for daily building and crafting, meaning there are very few practical items that become obsolete, with the exception of maybe glass. Even then, anything useless you can drop to despawn, or take it to the trader and sell it for some better stuff.

Speaking of which, I love the trader. They may not have a huge variety of stock, but the fact is the system reflects their exact title: trading. There are items with large value like lighters, coins, rings etc. However, you can barter anything for anything. You select the items you want, and you give them the items you want to give, and depending on the total value of both sides, she might tell you "Get lost!", "I need more", "Fine, we have a deal" or "Great stuff!"
These text cues allow you to get the most bang for your buck, either adding more items to buy if you're selling things of great value, or adding lower value items to pay the lowest price possible. I'm pretty sure every other game with a "trader" that I've played only trades in some sort of set currency, so this is extremely refreshing.

I stopped for a while and an update was released (rendering old save file useless, so keep that in mind with this progressing game), so I decided to jump back in. One of the major changes I noticed was the new advanced firearms, which adds another layer of depth.

The old system had you collect a blueprint and body of a gun, then some extra resources and bam, you've got the bolt action rifle, the hardest hitting gun in the game. However, the new system forces you to choose more wisely between how you go about making late game weapons. This time, you need to recycle broken guns to gather their part blueprints, or just collect the parts, and then assemble the gun piece by piece. Depending on the quality of certain parts, this will either improve some aspects or just keep it with its basic stats.

I've noticed complaints about this making them take too long to grind for, but to be honest, the old system made these guns super easy to get, and now it's more like "do I want to make a basic firearm now, or do I want to wait until I've researched better parts to save resources?" Furthermore, black powder weapons, especially the revolver, will last you a good while until you finally progress past them.

With so many games in early access that steal money and run, this is one of the cases where the developer shows genuine care. Many updates are being released and frequent newsletters allow the dev to keep in touch about their thoughts and insights. I have almost zero complaints, and even though this game is clearly not 10/10, that doesn't mean I believe it's worth every cent.

I loved this game, but as with all games, I take breaks for other stuff and come back later (after all, disassembling and reassembling virtual guns has it's limits when it comes to user engagement.) However, there is one thing this game does that no game should ever do, especially one with a progress system this vast and everlasting: It automatically wipes your progress if you don't return for a certain period of time, or if you haven't made "significant progress" for a period of time, the game completely wipes everything you have: from unlocked guns to scoreboard positions, and even steam achievements.

I understand that you can wipe scoreboard positions, that's absolutely fine to keep the competition fresh. But wiping literally everything? That's horrible. It is for this reason alone that I provide a negative review, and although it may never be seen or cared about by either the community or the devs, I feel obligated to let even one person know that you should not get this game if you aren't going to be playing only this game and nothing else for years to come.

I bought this originally on itch.io, I bought it again just because the dev deserves it. I probably played this game for hours longer than most others, and that was only the original. Now with extra content I'm ready for an extra dozen to be put in :)

P.S: Double or nothing mode definitely extends playtime, but it's gonna make you want to play this solo irl with only live rounds, so make sure you're in a cool head space each time you play it.

I love so much about this game, from the visuals to the art style, the simple yet engaging combat and gameplay, the sound design and the overall way everything comes together. Being an early access game, I honestly wasn't expecting much when I got this, but the easy to understand progression system led me to keep going further and further, and the drillships would definitely be the best part.

I've hated in survival games when I would have a small inventory and need to make sure I'm not carrying anything remotely useless like extra ammo or resources, and have to run back and forth just because of storage. In this game, you can run across the entire map and call your base to you, and then if you don't feel like dealing with the COGs attacking, just send it underground. This is balanced out by the fact that advanced modules can't deploy/be used unless the ship is above ground, so you can't just sit underground forever.

Furthermore, the enemy's difficulty follows your progression, only coming out with stronger turrets, drillships and units as the player gets further into developing better technology. This includes resources too, better resources start appearing in areas where they were once non-existent, like titanium in caves 1 after you unlock tier 2 modules.

Overall, it's a very engaging game, more casual than survival games that are focused on raids and such, but enough combat to keep the game interesting. I highly recommend this one, I'm very interested in seeing where the developer will take this game with more support.

In the grim darkness of the future, there is only war. And disappointment.
The 40k fans grow tired and frustrated.

For when the chaos of games workshop has besieged the Imperium of Man, and the tide of darkness is filled by bad gameplay and undelivered promises, we will send unto them only you.

A rare gem, a holy flame to pierce the black surrounding the series. Developers who prove caring for their subjects, and loyal to their Emperor's demands. A decent game, this is not. Instead, it is a game worthy of the highest praise and the greatest blessings that even a god could not provide.

Sidonus would be proud. Protect his sacrifice.

This game is awesome, it's optimisation leaves something to be desired though. The main issue I have is one section where you need to download data onto thumbsticks, and each download spawns guards. This section wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the fact that the windows aren't clear, they're "wobbly", so to speak. This means that not only are they difficult for players to see through, but the AI can instantly wallbang anyone they see on the other side (which they see through just fine because they're AI). But the biggest problem with this section is that the window designs make the framerate worse than at any other section of the game. Even when I managed to get through this section alive, my game crashed not long after meaning it was basically all for nothing. I feel like the game could be split up by short loading screens every now and then, similar to the way Black Mesa does it. It would certainly be a tad less immersive, but I'd prefer trading impressiveness for the ability to play the game at a framerate higher than 15 in the hardest part of the game.

An awesome free game, the best way I can describe it in short is a more basic version of deadspace with a different setting. It's quite a short experience, but you can tell the devs really tried in their attempt to make a game with a unique feel to it. Keep in mind that when you are starting the game, it's not greatly optimised so switch the graphics settings to "high" at most so it doesn't ruin your experience with lag (also you can't change it mid game and there's no save feature bc it's so short). It's free, this is a must try experience for anyone with less than 30 mins free time on their hands.
