Not quite retro but it has a unique blend of fast-paced 1v1 action and visual comedy with some sprinkles of map knowledge in small and tight maps. Your dude does a Naruto run while sprinting!

Early Access Review
It's a Roguelite top-down game with solid physics and an interesting mechanic where you can 'infuse' items with other items which grant it specific bonuses. You unlock more slots for these infusions the more bosses you defeat, and there's strategy (and some luck) involved with buildcrafting due to the card and infusion system. You can also curse items to purify them which has a chance to grant them lesser/greater enchantments as well as unique enchantments for specific items, such as a rock getting the Myriad enchantment which lets me indulge in my caveman fantasy of just throwing rocks at everything because now you throw infinite shadow rocks at people. There's also a lot of potential for co-op shenanigans where you and your buddy can cooperate to complement each other's builds.

All in all, great game, has rough edges due to being early access but it has amazingly solid ideas and a dev who actually cares about it. Plays pretty great in co-op too!

Fun and challenging twin-stick survival arcade shooter that'll take you a while to get the hang of, but it's all good fun. The music is understated but nice. The gameplay and sound effects are solid. Every 100 enemies you deal with a boss enemy but they can be taken out easily if you know what you're doing, but still a fun break from the constant hordes nonetheless.

My favorite builds?
- The Partner, Dual Wield, Rusty Spur, Functional oil for a devastating close range shotgun combo that can easily take care of hordes that are rushing you. The combo also allows you to roll behind shield boys and take out the ones behind him and then the shield boy in quick succession, even in the dodge frames and you can even dodge towards snipers and take care of the swarms while in the dodge frames. Just make sure to keep reloading and the buckshot flowing.
- The Crimson, Piercing Moonlight, Leather Bandolier, Strange Locket (or whatever you want) for a fun and challenging sharpshooter build that makes you use up your rounds and back off for a quick reload or a big ol' piercing shot.

High Score: 1057

Boomer-shooter is one of the worst phrases this decade has come up with but this game is fun.

A challenging but not too difficult Kemono Friends-themed Megaman clone. I enjoyed it, despite it having some rather ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ platforming sections (cough snek level cough). It's always nice to see more KF-inspired media. I enjoyed the spritework, the gameplay (thought some movements feels off, like ladders (ladders fixed)), and especially the music!

A fun solid platformer that'll last you a few hours, It's not too difficult, but it's a joy to play and watch. I think it would benefit with a level editor or quick restart button though!

A decent horror experience, but says nothing really new in terms of its main conflict. The horror experience and the whole WAU thing felt kinda tacked on and a bit irritating at times, but I suppose you can just play it on Safe Mode.

tl;dr WHAT DOTH LIFE?

I don't remember why I bought this game, but I do remember 100%ing the game. It's absolutely fantastic, one of those indie games with a lot of love and care put into it. TL;DR: it's FUN and the weapon combinations are great and the music is amazing.

The main draw of this game is the combination system. It allows you to pick up powers, and the configuration of your powers makes your POWER SHOT vary in effect. If you have Lightning and Quick, it becomes a sword. If you have Force and Plasma, it becomes homing lasers. The game has a ridiculous amount of combinations. The game is a platformer shooter that allows you to fire in 8 directions (which also depends if you're standing or jumping, but not a run and gun since most attacks lock you in place, so it becomes a more strategic reposition and fire type of shooter while also still being a fast paced action game. The swords however allow you to stay mobile. All of this doesn't matter of course, since you'll be drawing and using up powers like there was no tomorrow since the game practically encourages mixing different powers every stage.

The art direction is amateurish, but hell, it grew on me. The real star of the show in this regard is the effects. The game loves its effects, and they all look flashy as hell. This with the absolutely satisfying sound of combat makes for an extremely enjoyable experience. Explosions look great. Your weapons look and feel great. Killing bots feels great.

The bosses? I absolutely love the bosses, starts out slow and mundane and then it really ramps up like a Platinum game. That's all I can say.

The sound design is absolutely incredible. The tracks are real bangers, the sound effects when you shoot and break things are great. But the best part is the unique way the game handles the standard video game "Low HP Beeping Noise". Instead of just being an extremely annoying constant beep, it's actually just another layer of the current track! That's right, the song adds an additional layer to the song when you get to low health, heightening the tension and adding some real pizzazz to the proceedings.

The story is a pretty enjoyable and fun one, while the main character's goal is to smash the simulation and train herself through it, the personality of both Boki and Savant shines through. and the hard mode is not just a hard mode, but an actual continuation of that story. At the start, you and Boki are pretty green and new to combat, but in hard mode, both you and Boki are now hardened fighters ready to take on any challenge with gusto. When you think the game has finally reached its end, surprise! There's more content to complete!

Did I mention you can play as a second character with his own unique power combos and playstyle? And also that he has his own unique story and hard mode story and bosses? Because that exists, and it's also great fun. The game has a bunch of different cheats and extra stuff you can unlock ranging from letting you only use swords, to playing as an enemy, to making you emit squeaky noises whenever you take a step.

Protip: Stop playing when the forest is set on fire for additional dialogue.

In conclusion: THE GAME MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT GAMES ACTUALLY ARE FUN.
