Easily one of the best RPGs ever. I don't think it beats Wrath of the Righteous, but there's definitely a lot of things it does better than WotR or DOS2- it's a true AAA CRPG, with all the polish that entails. Still plenty of bugs, but nothing I wasn't able to work around.

Needs work, but there's definitely a good game in there- I'd give it a few months unless you're like me and don't mind working around bugs.

Writing is on-point, making Peter Thiel and his acolytes into literal vampires that you can kill is a pretty fun concept. I enjoyed Remi as the single-player protagonist, and the major NPCs were mostly likeable characters with some interesting stuff to say over the course of the game.

The combat could use some polish but generally felt good, all the weapon classes felt like they had unique strengths and weaknesses and the special vampires had neat gimmicks. As a looter-shooter it has fairly simple but generally well-balanced perks, and what seem to be a fair number of different weapon parts a la Borderlands; sights and suppressors definitely matter, the others may just be cosmetic. I found myself using blue and purple weapons over yellows frequently, the M1911 with silver bullets is the only one that really stood out to me as busted.

Give it a shot now if you liked Prey/Dishonored and don't mind bugs, otherwise I'd give this one a couple months to work out some kinks.

Really good, much better on launch than Kingmaker was. Gets very dark in a few places, I think they pull it off but if you're easily offended maybe choose another one. Companion power ranking: S Nenio Ember

The stuff people are mad about is mostly valid criticism, but it's still easily one of the best RPGs and games of all time. If you can't deal with the bugs and other problems, that's totally fine, but come back in 6 months or a year and give it a shot. New Vegas and Kingmaker are also top 5 all-time RPGs for me, and neither of them functioned on release either.

In regards to conditions at CD Projekt Red- as a company, they absolutely deserve boycotts and probably a lot worse than that for what they did to their workers. That said, the amount of love and work put into it is incredibly evident. This ♥♥♥♥ is art, and if you consider games to be anything close to a valid art form, you owe it to the devs to experience it. Willing or not, it's clear that blood sweat and tears were poured into this and the least you can do is appreciate that.

After many bug fixes and the DLCs, I'm confident calling this the best RPG of the decade. Incredible depth in both characters and strategy.
