I am redoing this review, I can recommend the game now. Gaijin has released a roadmap for planned economic changes which will make the game playable for current players and new players. Some of the changes went out with the La Royale update, and other of the Economy updates (plus some additional quality of life updates) are meant to come out throughout the year, at a steady pace. As long as the economy changes are adhered to and Gaijin continues listening to the community, I have hope this game will survive longer then just a couple years. Original review left for reference.

At this point it in, it is regrettable I have to say I don't recommend this game in the majority of circumstances. F2P not being viable isn't a thing to me exactly (if nothing else on the account of "There Is No Such Thing As A Free lunch", I still think that it's more then a bit insane at the grind of a F2P player, but still). The bigger issue is that even with a premium account, you don't make enough to offset costs from being in the battles (as in, repair costs of the vehicle in some cases especially at the higher ranks, make it to where, without buying new vehicles or even crew experts, you can run out of SL very easily). To me, especially with the advertising of modern equipment, the grind needs to be made much better (IF NOTHING ELSE FOR PREMIUM ACCOUNT PLAYERS). As it is right now, you have to either spend a metric boat load of hours into the game, even as a paying customer. One should have my amount of hours and have at least one tech tree fully fleshed out or a few to several ground or air tech trees in other nations if they pay for premium. (Here's the thing, I had premium for a long time, it just ran out and I got another 10 days from the BP. Much of my grinding was when I started this game up a few years ago, tail end of 2020 to mid 2021. I have much of the Japanese tree fleshed out on ground barring top tier on a F2P account, and then went premium. The Premium now is worse then the F2P then). It could be palatable take more then 100 hours for one tech tree, maybe 200 for a big one. Frankly it shouldn't be more then 100 hours for one of the big trees, 100 hours for the air and ground of the smaller trees. Without a boatload of money, you won't get anywhere near that type of progress.

If you are willing to shell out for premium vehicles and premium time, then you might still be able to enjoy this game at this point. Expect to spend at least a couple hundred to a few hundred, potentially even on just ONE of the bigger trees. The game itself is fun, highly intricate that is relatively easy to get into, and you can get as complicated as you want with the game as well (for example. MEC (Manual Engine Control) in Realistic). If you really want to give it a try, it is free. However, if you get invested into it, be prepared to spend money. Hopefully the economy/ research of this game is made better for the player or even entirely reworked. As is, I worry about the games longevity, especially if the game's economy becomes even more player hostile.
