This game being a free to play should be considered a theft as this makes paid for games rather lackluster in content in comparison.

You know you are in for a good time when you are paralyzed for 30 minutes just in the character creation screen, just contemplating what to pick.

Epic for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason pulled all Unreals to their cancerous Chineese spyware platform, yes, even those singleplayer ones like Unreal 1 and 2.

And UT3 is supposedly going F2P.

A spit to the face of all gamers, Steam users and disgusting attempt to defile the legacy that build them, without Unreal, Epic wouldnt exist !.

Well worth the 20 bucks, the new visuals and QoL managed to give the game a new feeling and its much more new-player friendly too. Oh and its a something with EA slapped on it that isnt a bad. This is an exemplary remaster. This is how you do it Blizzard.

(I will update this review once i get to the end)

A new XCOM that made me worried this will be another hot trash but i was wrong. XCOM Chimera is a parody or something and a sequel to XCOM 2 and it reinvents some mechanics and makes combat more fast paced and action packed and i cant complain, its really fun so far..

Although what does pisses me off is the story and the non-precedented stuff that happens here. The game offers next to no explanation about that.
What irked me in particular

1) Vipers
Them being able to talk is one odd thing, i remember seeing that devs, once commented under a fanart that vipers are "Pure evil" and given what you see in XCOM 2 its hard to believe otherwise.
Also whats up with their body shapes...
2) Mutons look like a cartoon fish monsters
After seeing a Muton wearing a sweater and pants i said to myself "Has humanity fallen that deep ? during one of the missions.
3) Why are xenos allowed to live post XCOM 2 ?
Where are the reapers ? Why is XCOM so emasculated ? Last time i checked, in all previous games we were on a constant genocidal rampage against Xenos, leaving trails of bodies and mutilated bodyparts in our wake. And most of humanity were on board with us. Skirmishers and Hybrids (Apocalypse) are like the only exception, in two games of aliens that are friendly, but these species are pretty much Humans with messed up foreheads and eyes and some genetic tweaks. Or atleast when you compare them to massive snakes, thin psy aliens and massive behemoths they are more reasonable neighboors.
4) What has XCOM become after the war.
Chimera squad is part of XCOM and they are... police/Counterterrorist force ? Is this the reward for creating mountains of alien corpses and igniting a fuse on planet-wide rebelion ?.
5) Aliens are sentient and not bloodthirsty, instinct driven animals.
This one rubs me in particular, it was NEVER said that once Elder's control is cut off why they dont turn to feral beats. You see feral vipers in Alien's Nest that are outside of Elder's control, you see the King Viper who is just a savage beast that rapes and reproduces, devours and attacks like a animal.
Sectoids, how they can talk, how can Viper talk ? You only hear them hissing in XCOM 2, sectoids do gurgling noices, Mutons just as well.

The ONLY specie that makes sense are Mutons to have a mind of their own but again, why isnt their first reaction when seeing Humans to beat them to a pulp.
6) How are they reproducing or why it is allowed.
Neither of these species can reproduce on their own. Last time i checked, King Viper's head is still hanging in the armoury, the only male of the entire specie, made by Vahlen... Mutons and Sectoids dont have reproductory organs and Muton Berserkers dont even have an... exit hatch.

They didnt needed bees and hives because they are MASS PRODUCED GUIDED MISSILES, so them not being able to multiply is non issue if you can simply melt bunch of humans and pump out legions of this nondescript horrors.

5 years should be enough for most Aliens to either die due to natural reasons (It was never stated or probably even intended for these walking weapons to live beyond few years of creation) or Humans splattering their brains on the pavement with shotguns. But yet the city is full of them ?! What sort of freak has a FORGE facility running ?! WHY IS IT ALLOWED ?! DId Vahlen gave ♥♥♥♥♥ to all so they can reproduce ? Why ? You realize these species will run Humanity to exctinction because they are superior than us in physical might. It would explain those flatchested vipers though.

If they cant reproduce, then why isnt Humanity waging a war of attrition against these monsters ?

Warframe is a coop/solo TPS shooter with RPG mechanics and some MOBA elements. The game is focused on PvE with barebones PvP that maybe a 1% of the playerbase plays. PvP isnt even mandatory so if you miss it, you wont miss anything really.

There are story missions, but most missions you will play will be on randomly generated maps so its never the same. You gather resources and warframes (Warframes are sort of characters with their own powers, classes i you will) And weapons and you get to experiment with them against multitude of scenarios.

Warframes have usually 4 abilities with passive which varies quite alot. From hot trash to legit good one. While i used the Class comparison, it should be mentioned that Warframes have really flexible functions and can be played in many, many ways. But some frames are simply geared to be played in a certain way. Trinity is a support frame with obvious healing and energy support when you compare her to Mesa, who is made for DPS and moping entire rooms within seconds.

Weapons ? Theres alot of them, from meat cleavers to particle cannons and you can mod everything, pets, weapons, frames with modifications that drop from enemies or as rewards. These will help you considerably with the harder content. A SMG firing regular bullets might be alright at start. But if it is firing incendiary rounds... or rounds that corrode armour... now thats something else !.

The difficulty is... well all over the place. The most difficulty comes from the fact that enemy will shred you quickly while their HP pool and armour is collosal. Enemies have levels and instead of creating new models, a level 30 trooper looks exactly like Level 100, but the level 100 will delete you in 3 bullet from his SMG while he has 10-25 times more HP than you.

You are supposed to use mods to circumvent that. But frankly this is quite awful solution because most of the end game combat boils down to making weapons that remove target from reality in one second or using abilities that prevent damage alltogether. The game does start to fall apart at higher levels. The thing where you can play as whoever you want and you can still do it ? Yeah, some weapons and frames will become blatantly better at the same job than others and this will make your blood boil if you dont have such weapons and frames or you dont like playing as such frames.

Thankfully, most of the content isnt like that. Only sorties 3x (Sorties are a serie of missions you must complete with high level enemies for good loot) Arbitrations and Distruption on the high end. So its not like you will facepalm this problem that early.

Content is potentially endless and devs are constantly updating the game so this game has staying power. And its free too.

Like, you are limited with what you can get in terms of number of weapons and frames, you have a capacity to cope with. You can buy slots with platinum (in game premium currency bought with real money), what the game doesnt tell you is that you can get platinum anyway without spending a coin and i feel this is quite a scare for newcomers. With trading you can get platinum from others so you can do whatever you want with it.

Game is pretty and is constantly upgraded but i am a guy who doesnt give a crap about how game looks, as long as the gameplay is good so no problems here.

You can play the game in solo, but everything is better if you are playing with randoms or your friends. And some missions will be impossible at the start when doing them solo (Interception). You might dread playing with random plebs but from my experience, 98% of the time nobody says anything and we just do stuff and get it over with.

GOLDEN RULE - As long as you are winning, nobody gives a crap if you are playing a suboptimal frame with bad weapons. But when you lose, then people will start searching for the reason.
"And that guy with Braton playing as Nyx against +50 Corpus enemies... someone else could have been in his place that would be useful !!" - Your angry teammate

Game is horribly explained and tutorials arent enough, i learned most things from my cousin who introduced me to the game. Like you WILL bookmark the Waframe wiki because it like containts everything you should know, stuff the game doesnt bother to explain to you so the begining is the worst. But the game itself isnt that hard and you dont have to be MLG pro to play it.

All in all, i would suggest playing this game either way. Its free and has more content than most AAA games.

Presentation - Good, game looks adequate and has decent soundtrack
Gameplay - Simple on surface, based around grinding and constantly upgrading and experimenting.
Community - Dont visit steam forums, expect trolls in game but from my experience they are rarity. You can form squads in game via the recruit to create more specific squads for specific purpose. This is how you usually do the hardest content because playing with random people has random variables.
Devs - Game is constantly updating with new content
Longevity - Massive, this is like card collection game but on steroids and with violence and ocassional screaming at your teammates.
Complexity - Horrible first impressions and badly explained mechanics, bunch of noob traps but rather simple once you break through
PvP - Go play something else
PvE - Welcome aboard

XCOM 2 is a great game but it has its issues.

XCOM 2 and WOTC are pretty much the same thing except that WOTC is the base game but better in every way.

In summary
XCOM 2 is a turn based tactics based game, its a sequel to XCOM 1 but in this timeline XCOM got defeated and now the Earth is ruled over by the aliens called Advent in the game and its up to you to liberate the planet and rally the resistance.
By doing sabotages and guerrila acts, destroying relays, stealing intel and destroying their property in general.

Its somewhat great fun tbh and well executed plan makes you feel some pride and acomplishment but this game is RNG based too so even a 98% hit will miss more than once through the campaign. It has something to do with the game actively lying to the player. Up to legendary difficulty the game cheats in players favour.

Enemy variety is decent and interesting but frankly their AI is stupid and so the only way devs thought of making them even slightly challenging is to make them either immune to all status effects or give them massive armour that reduced your damage, making them bullet sponges... oh and they also sometimes have undodgeable AOE attacks for good measure.

XCOM 2 is yet another game with awfully hard start but ez end game. This should not keep happening, devs should know better by know. Its a problem of most TBS games i played.

Classes cover most gameplay needs but tbh i would welcome more of them. Have a dedicated medic, officer and things like that. You can have up to 6 soldiers in every mission once you bought the upgrades though there are missions where you will control more than 6 but those are extremely rare.

Game (and especially WOTC) can be modded and quite great mods are made for it.

Play the WOTC for the game.

War of the Chosen (WOTC)
Its an expansion of some sort, in short its the base game but better in every way, its more optimized, has better mod support, larger enemy variety, new unit types, increased difficulty, Sparks dont suck so much and in general everything is more polished.

There are other DLC's for the game, they work for WOTC and vanilla dont worry, there are two worthwhile one's.

1) Shen's gift dlc
In short, this dlc enables XCOM to build mechs. These are tanky frontline troops with heavy weaponry. In WOTC they are way more useful due to higher number of psionic enemies and status effect spewing enemies. Since they are robots, they cannot burn or be poisoned and they are immune to psi attacks. Def. worthwhile DLC.
2) Alien Hunters (!)
Be careful with this one as it will spike the difficulty to unbearable levels, it introduces 3 new boss like enemies that can appear in any mission. They have massive HP pool but you are supposed to wither them down overtime as they escape the battlefield when they get battered too much. Them being bullet sponges wouldnt be such problem... what is a problem is that they have a unique mechanic called ruler reaction system. They get a free action whenever you do anything. You hit it ? It gets a action point and insta kills your soldier with a crit, you reload ? More pain ! You relocate ? Someone gets hurt.
So pretty much any fights turn in to a farce of nuking the thing with the strongest abilities you have. It sucks that these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ get to appear once you complete a mission called Alien nest. If you disable this dlc then these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ will guard enemy facilities instead of appearing randomly in missions so thats more tolerable.

Not everything is doom and gloom about this DLC though. You get bunch of unique weapons to play with and they are really great and the main reason to get this DLC. If you happen to kill the alien rulers you can also make unique armours from their bodies so thats also nice.

3) Legacy mission pack
They are a line of premade missions explaining the lore. And they introduce the barely devd Skrimish system. Did nobody at the dev team thought of that we might want to use our own characters in the skirmish ? Because you cant do that, you must download a mod for that.

This is my first Total War game... and first Warhammer game too. I had some experiences with the universe in Mount and Blade Warsword conquest and i am a fan of WH40k so i decided to check this out.

Straight out of the gate without warning, this game costs more than 100 bucks for me. I learned after 4 hours of playtime that i must have SSD card to prevent 2-4 minutes loading times whenever i have the odacity to tell the game that i will fight the battle itself. The game itself does run well, even in +2000 unit fight the framerate was good enough. After few loading screens i rushed to see what was wrong with the game... and it seems my hardware has the odacity to not have that one component. I dont remember this being listed ANYWHERE on the steam store system requirements and when i checked the discussions at first before i bought the game the life was going on well, just discussions. NOTHING warned me about the game. Its not like its unplayable or anything, its just annoying and time wasting more than it needs to be.

So my first impressions were following

1) DLC's ?! 2 new faction sets for 17 bucks each ? Well atleast they dont look like they were ripped from the game and sold later as DLC. But where is Chaos ? I cannot find them and i only saw them as hordes on the map.
2) 2-4 minutes loading screens
3) Ok, lets fire up the custom skirmish, i want to play as Bretonia or Empire because i am somewhat familiar with them from the Warsword conquest... oh... those factions arent in the game ?... but wait this is campaign, i want to play custom skirmish where the map is auto generated and factions are placed there at random, just like in Civilisation or Endless Legend... oh... such thing is NOT IN THE GAME ?!.... fine... oh wait theres skirmish.... wait thats just quick battle simulation.... Well i guess i should start with tutorial first... huh, two campaigns... OH THERES the campaign i would like to play, the Mortal Empires ! But its locked as DLC thats free.... huh shouldnt be a problem
4) I need to buy the first game to have access to the Empire, Bretonia and a hoard of other factions ? What the ♥♥♥♥ is this !
FIne i said, lets start the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tutorial before i go blind. Hmm... not every lords have tutorials... hmm i can only play as 4 factions with multiple lords and other two factions are sitting there as DLC and they are trying to seduce me to buy them.
Fine, since i aint gona have my humans i will go the lizard way. So...oh god, the Muzahsomeone that bullfrog is my noble because the other cool looking dinosaur doesnt have a tutorial ? ♥♥♥♥ that, i rather pick the Qik headtaker (Or however he is called in English).
5) The first two campaigns (Muzah bullfrog thingy and Qik were failures because i was unfamiliar with the mechanics and their units were abit confusing for me)
6) Then i fired up Tyrion... i think i remember him slightly from the tournament in the Warsword conquest where i was bashing his head with my sword doing 2-6 damage each strike but when he struck me he took 40% of my HP in single blow... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ OP elves !. Alright lets take this guy on a journey. Easiest difficulty for the plebs please..
7) Few days later i pretty much learned the game with Tyrion as i stomped through Chaos warriors and Dark Elves.
8) Then i lauched a campaign as my lizard dude i wanted to play as and i cranked up the difficulty to normal and i stomped through my neighboors before i decided to check out the other plebs and how they are played.
9) Huh, bloated bodies ? Mortars ? Skeleton warrio... wait dont tell me that i will be facing DLC factions when i dont own them (yet !).
10) Fine, i'll show the AI what for and kick its ass regardless even if my enemy is unknown.

Now, any reasonable person after reading this would give the game a negative review... but the thing is that the game itself... the gameplay is very good, the gameplay is fluid, game looks nice, it is optimized, each faction is unique and each noble pretty much changes the faction in some way, adding replayability. So all in all, without the BS of greed, atleast the game is good.

So, for a first time player of Total War game and a real Warhammer game, the game has horrendous first impressions, i was legit thinking about refunding this because of the insane loading screens but after more hours in the game, it charmed me and now i cannot give this a negative rating because the gameplay is solid, thats what matters. I cannot compare this to other Total War games but i can compare it to other TBS games. And you know the game is good that you ordered on Alza.cz an SSD just for this game... and you are checking out if the Pirates or Tomb Kings are on a sale every day....
