This is my first time, so be gentle :3 ( Note: I don't intend to sugar coat my review just because I received the game for free.)

To put it plainly, Peregrine felt like EA published it. By this, I mean that there were a lot of bugs and annoying parts in the game that really took away from a beautiful environment and compelling story. You can clearly tell where the developers WANTED the game to go, but bugs disrupt the eb and flow. For example, one section of the game is so bugged, that the screen goes completely white (this is about 30 minutes into the game,) and you cannot see anything. All you can do, is hope your character makes it to the other side of the screen without dying (this probably took ~5 minutes, but was frustrating and broke my immersion.)

Another bug, the creatures you control will fall through bridges randomly! Forcing you to restart the section you just spent time completing. Furthermore, there's a particular puzzle that if you do it out of order, you cannot progress. The only way to get past this, is to completely restart the chapter (chapter 3 FYI.)

Peregrin does have a beautiful setting, with a compelling story. However, the voice acting is choppy. At the end of most sentences there's the start of the next sentence, but it is cut short, as if poorly edited. For example, you will hear something like "Abi continued up the path, a-" or "This is what was meant to happen. I-" and this was sort of annoying and really felt like a lot of oversight on the dev's part.

The worst bug was the accidental ability to skip an entire section of the game! If you walk up to the speed boat, and interact with it, it says something along the lines of "the controls for this vehicle are locked." The game then proceeds to turn the boat on and drive you to the next area through a short cut scene of sorts. This is an issue because its immediately beside you when you enter the area, so of course you check the glowing waypoint before going through the rest of the level.

In conclusion, I understand this is an indie game and no one expects an indie game to look like a triple A title, with all the bells and whistles, but we do expect some polish, and Peregin leaves a lot of the polish at the title screen.

P.S. if you can look past all this, you could find a puzzle game that you enjoy. Just remember its short and only takes ~2.5 hours.

That sounds like Electronic Arts and Early Access!

@brutaldeluxe09 I meant Electronic Arts due to their history of poor releases. Bugs, glitches, as well as forcing the game developers to release a game that wasn't ready for publishing.

Interesting review. I might be wrong but I think you may have confused Early Access with Electronic Arts. I'm going to purchase the game anyway in order to make my own mind up about it.

People downvoted this review just because they like the game =/ So annoying that few gamers seem to be able to look at anything without bias. Nice review :)

Sounds like you had some problems :/ My playthrough was flawless, 0 bugs or any sort of performance problems.
