It's hard to recommend a game that the developer breaks with untested updates - most of the particle effects were broken by the Season 14 DLC update and there hasn't been any word from the dev on when they will fix this or if they are even aware of the problem. It's been several days now and the issue is affecting EVERYONE!!

Update : 9 days later, not a word from the dev about the issue and no fix. The game is also causing random restarts and possibly damage to your hardware. Don't risk playing this until the developer Saber Interactive fixes the serious problems.

Update :
Hi *******,
Thank you for contacting Saber Interactive Support.

The team is aware of this issue and is investigating, but there is currently no timeframe. That said, a hotfix is in the works, which may help.
Apologies for the inconvenience.

Regards,
Dismoral

So they're aware of the problem at least, hopefully the hotfix doesn't take too long.

Update : It didn't take long at all, hotfix is out now.

This may eventually turn into a good quality game worth your time, if the developer decides to finish it.
Right now it is very buggy and glitchy. Basic things like base building that should have been nailed down a long time ago are a frustrating fight with what feels like completely unfinished systems. The building snap points don't work properly, building pieces obstruct each other in bizarre ways or just refuse to be placed, wires and pipes will refuse to connect, textures clip or are in the wrong places, turrets for base defense are missing firing sound effects, etc... you'll run into constant problems and bugs trying to build things.
There are also MASSIVE lag spikes on the server side, I'll be driving along and routinely get rubber-banded back to where I was 30 seconds ago. It wasn't bad at launch but now it feels like they don't have enough bandwidth for the game servers to keep up.
The developer seems to have plans to release a mobile version of this game and the impression I'm getting right now is that we're doing some free playtesting for them.

Unplayable. White Screen then Crash.
Might be good gameplay but I'll never get to know thanks to a game-stopping technical issue.
16,000+ threads on reddit, all with the same problem. No fix.
Pathetic...

*Edit*
Fixed it myself. Required a fresh windows installation but it allowed me to discover there was a conflict with Process Lasso. Just having it installed, not even running, was a game-breaking issue for Elden Ring.
Process Lasso is an excellent, useful program that I've never had issue with before and the problem is definitely with Elden Ring or EasyAntiCheat.
Still do not recommend this game, a program this picky about what you have installed is an embarrassment to have released. No doubt there are many other programs that cause Elden Ring to shrivel up and die, leading to the huge number of customers who never got to play at all or have lost the ability to launch the game.

Great game and absolutely still worth playing! There are HD texture mods/graphics overhauls that bring the visuals up to modern standards, all kinds of gameplay mods and tweaks to enhance literally every aspect of them game, it really is incredible what has been done here to keep the game alive and fresh!

** WARNING - GAME ABANDONED BY DEVELOPER - DO NOT BUY **

**FORUMS CLEANED BY DEVELOPER OF ALL ISSUES AND NEGATIVE FEEDBACK**

This is an ongoing abandonware scam. Unfinished Early Access game fraudulently marketed as "1.0 released" by the initial developer then abandoned. The game and developer account were sold to someone else who is now pretending the game is being worked on in order to scam more people into buying this never-finished garbage.
I made the only mod that exists for this game, trying to fix some of the issues after the false 1.0 release/dump. I had to put it up on Nexus mods because the Steam Workshop tools got removed from the game but not the marketing. I've looked through the code, I've tried to help but - it's utter trash and not worth the time, I can see why the first devs gave up and dumped it. Everything is broken, unfinished and going by the drunken comments and notes left in 2 languages - undocumented!

Early Access Review
They left in the terrible, immersion breaking blank black loading screens.
EVERY SINGLE TIME you jump in and out of supralight (which you will do a lot) - BLACK SCREEN without even a loading progress bar.
It's jarring, immersion breaking, lazy, awful... WHY? WHY THE ****?
I honestly can't believe something so bloody terrible was left in when so much effort went into this game...
It's like buying an awesome sports car but every time you turn a corner the car has to come to a complete stop, put into park, turn off it's engine, remove the key, reinsert the key, re-start the engine, put it in gear and accelerate back up to speed until the next corner.
Does it look cool - yes, but do I want to drive it - no way.

Cons -
First time launching - game starts installing .NET but then launches itself before that installer completes and the game locks up. Then I spent the next 2 hours trying to fix the blurry graphics, then the anti-cheat was forcing the game to only use 4 of my 16 cores and also forcing normal process priority. Next the game crashed but was convinced that it actually didn't crash so it wouldn't re-launch the game.
Pros -
Refund was processed and issued in less than an hour!

I'm cleaning things with a power washer.
It's been 25 hours.
Now I'm going to clean more things.
You should also start cleaning the things.

This is a good game but I think it sets the wrong expectations with the name.
If you are expecting something like SPG2 or Warlords, this is very different from other games in the series and you will be disappointed. This game leans more towards Freelancer with some Darkstar One mixed in. Devs seem to be working hard patching and adding content so no regrets on my purchase at all.

Just buy the game already, 30,000 reviews and overwhelmingly positive for a damn good reason!

There were performance issues in early access but the devs switched the game to run on a new version of Unity with x64 support for release and the game runs great now.

This game taught me so much about space and I can't wait until my son is old enough to start enjoying it!
