TLDR: I would only recommend this game on sale and for fans of the series. Otherwise, give it a miss.

A fairly underwhelming entry in the Total War franchise. Even with the best diplomacy system in the world, the mostly copy pasted factions mean that once you have played one or two campaigns you have seen it all. This means it lacks for replayability, despite having a huge "variety" of factions to choose from.

I did enjoy the duelling aspect of the battles, but as I always had the same 3 or 4 general types it meant that most of the duels were a forgone conclusion before you even enter the battle. Moreover because I only have the same 3 or 4 generals in each army it means that I only ever had the same uniform army for every battle which becomes dull after a while. And there was little to no incentive to vary the unit types as most battles are won by catapults and archers.

Almost 1200 hours of achievement grinding later... worth it!

TLDR: Get it on sale, and prepare for Britishness.

A game made almost entirely for British people, with very satirical comedy (including a laugh track/American language option). I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Her Majesty's SPIFFING and would definitely recommend it to people who enjoy British comedy or have a few hours to kill. The writing is very well done, though I can't help but think that more could have been in the end. That said I assume the developers left the ending the way they did to expand the story in future installments if they choose to continue to build upon this IP.

However, as with most reviews of this game, I think this game is far too short. After 2-3 hours you could have done eveything in the game twice over so I would recommend picking this up on sale.

Not the best Total War game by any means, but still a good solid game with lots of content with multiple campaigns. Introduction of Multiplayer campaigns is good, but it sucks when people drop out half way through :/ It's pretty, but some game mechanics are a little naff i.e. autor-resolve, inability to kills Huns until the middle of the campaign...

7/10 would recommend

P.S. Worth picking up in a Steam sale ;)

Kept crashing, couldn't complete a campaign to my standards, though that may have just been me.

The game of my childhood. Though it says I have only played 55 hours, I can assure you that it is easily 1000+. A must have in the Total War Franchise. Nothing was better than being excommunicated then murdering every cardinal (and pope) until I regained papal favour, even if it meant killing my own.

For any new comers: Beware the East be ever watchful. Kill everything.

One of the easier of the Total War games, with my tatics staying more or less the same for all difficulties, if you want a challenge I'd recommend being the Netherlands. Having said that there's something gratifying about decimating and army with artillery and making them retreat without sustaining a single casualty.
