Bad Game. Everyone's complaining about the new UI updates as well as game updates. Check the reviews of others for full information.

Before the updates were pushed, they were given an immense amount of player feedback in their Public Testing Servers declaring that something had to change with their intended updates.

The UI is horrendous, none of the updates were asked for and the community at the very least wanted some tweaks if the changes were still going through by the Developer team.
No one was happy from all sides of the spectrum(Survivors and Killers alike).

DO NOT BUY until the developers realign their moral compass when it comes to their player base.

Very promising game with a Dev team that shows their love and care for their game by updating the game daily, listening to the community's feedback and suggestions and transparency.

Give it a shot if you would like to support the game, otherwise wait until it's out of Early Access.

Super impressed by the story and gameplay.

Gameplay is Turn-Based Strategy JRPG mixed with Third-Person Shooter(Think of Fire Emblem but you can actually shoot and aim a gun, a tank, etc).

The whole entire story is based on the premise of war. It does a great job of covering those topics as well as world building. I definitely felt attached to the characters that were there. Each victory, and each loss builds up the characters that you are in charge of, their lives are in your hands and there is no way to turn back the clock when they die.

Valkyria Chronicles 4, is the first game of the series that I have actually ever attempted playing through. It was so good, that I got a copy of Valkyria Chronicles 1, and am preparing to get right into it once I'm done with Valkyria Chronicles 4.

Pros:

Very solid gameplay, I really like how they gave a twist to the old Turn-based strategy JRPG with Third Person Shooting via attack action, makes the game feel a lot more interactive. Very nice mechanics that I actually liked a lot as well such as interception fire(Your soldiers will shoot at enemies that are moving within their range), cross fire(your soldiers will give supportive fire when one of them goes to do the attack action) and retaliatory fire(if your soldiers aren't dead after being attacked, they will attack back if the enemy is within range). These are only some of the most notable mechanics.

Story progression is pretty great! I like the narrative and the story book-esque visuals(You find out during the very first few minutes of gameplay, that you are going through the Diary of Claude Wallace, the protagonist of the game).

Characters are absolutely phenomenal, I actually really loved the English voice acting, you could actually hear and feel the emotions, powerfully giving these characters life. You start getting attached to them. They weren't bland or emotionless like some other dubs at all! As you progress through the game, you see relationships and bonds form between the characters via squad stories and main story. Very strong, emotional and witty narrative, sometimes you smite and laugh, and sometimes you feel very sad or bitter.

Music and visuals are very nice as well. Again, the visuals give you the feeling that you're going through a story book, looking through memories of the characters that make up the story.
The music comes in just at the right time during highly volatile, emotional or even peaceful scenes, it really does make you feel like you're watching a story unfold in front of you. Both the music and visuals definitely do such a great job at setting the tone of the game.

Cons:

The only two things that I wish they could have done to make this game perfect, the first being, they should have made tweaks to the rating system. You are ranked from A to D based on how fast you finish the mission, not how well you did. So for example, you would need to finish a mission in 2, sometimes 4 turns to get A rank, anything past that lowers your ranking. The higher your ranking, the better rewards you get.

The second and final thing that I wish they would have done, was give us a broader class spectrum for our units, allowing us to specialize them. You are given units based on 7 classes, and the only thing that changes throughout the game is the character that you play, giving their own set of battle potentials(positive bonuses like extra damage, extra action, etc. that trigger with specific conditions)and negative potentials(negative bonuses like less accuracy, inability to use an action, etc. that also trigger with specific conditions), and the gear that you put on them(which I guess could be called specializations in their own right).

TL;DR
Give this game a try. Definitely worth the price(you get all of the DLC). If you're not willing to, at the very least get this game on sale. It's a very solid game, if you are into Fire Emblem or any turn based strategy game, give this a shot, 100%.

TL;DR
Definitely give it a try, not too big of a download and it might be your thing. Very fun, fast paced game. Very fresh and unique take on MOBA games. Game actually takes skill and positioning, won't see face rolling characters if not, very little. Tons of action and best of all, a mostly non-toxic community(Of the 50 games I've played, only encountered 2 toxic games). Although Nexon is INFAMOUS for pay to win games, this game surprisingly has none of those aspects.

Background info on me before we continue to the review:

Seasoned MOBA player, I've played Dota when it was just a mod for the Warcraft series, been with the League of Legends community since season 2, capping out at Diamond 5 and also finally capping out at Diamond, 3104 Skill Rating for Overwatch(Don't really consider this a MOBA though). Have spent countless of hours playing other MOBAs such as Strife, Smite, Heroes of the Storm and even iOS MOBAs such as Vain Glory, Mobile Legends, etc.

Pros:

1.The community's not toxic, out of all the games I've been in maybe only 1 or 2 of the 50 or so games were toxic. The gameplay's pretty straightforward, the usual go through lanes and destroy the towers portion of it. Get to the inner turrets and you'll spawn Super Minions and there's your usual set of Jungle camps plus Special Mobs(Invader, Executioner, Dragon), but the interesting portion of this is the side scrolling, fighting aspect to it instead of the usual top down view.

2.I'm genuinely surprised that the game's not pay to win. You can unlock skins and characters just by playing the game, you don't need to pay but it'll take a little bit more time to. I've been with Nexon for a while, and let me tell you this, they are INFAMOUS for pay to win games, so this is quite interesting as well as refreshing to see. I hope they keep this system in place for this game and I hope they'll continue to turn towards this new leaf of theirs.

3. Characters are INCREDIBLY balanced, but of course there's still situations where some characters are better than others such as comboing your team composition, countering an enemy character or fitting in with the map design(There's two maps that's available for us to play on so far as of this review, each differing greatly in terms of gameplay). Each character has a unique style, no two characters are the same. If you want to be an AOE wave clearer, there's a character for that. If you want a super bursty, one shot playstyle, there's a character for that. If you want to have a major focus on positioning while providing firepower to your teammates, there's a character for that. If you want to focus on backlining/healing and shielding, there's a character for that. If you want to completely lock down their team or lock one single character with Crowd Control, there's a character for that. Lots of different playstyles which keeps the game fresh.

4. The fights are INTENSE, you'll see a lot of fast paced action, lots of ganks and counter ganks, lots of objective control and dueling, lots of team fights, lots of skirmishes, there's just SO much that you can do. No single match will be the same, sometimes you'll pull that clutch 1 v 4 and win the game, sometimes you'll be at a huge disadvantage in terms of gold lead but manage to turtle yourself back to victory. The game has a ton of potential and I hope they'll build off on that.

5. Currency is very easy to earn. If I'm going to compare this system to the IP(Blue essence now) for League of Legends, you earn 200-500 points per match compared to League of Legend's 50-200. Each character in Hyper Universe costs about 15,000 points, BUT, you can drastically lower that cost to maybe 2000-4000 points by using the crafting system that Hyper Universe has to offer(This is where you can also craft skins for your characters).

Neutral:

1. Game mechanics are very simple(sort of). Basically have 4 regular skills and 1 ultimate, a regular attack, a dash and a jump. You have item loadouts and unlike the top of the run MOBAs, you don't actually look through items and purchase them while in the progress of a match, you set them up before the match and you can have up to a maximum of 5 separate loadouts. At the beginning of the game you select one and ONLY one loadout, that's the loadout that you're stuck with for the rest of the match.

2. There are special character items that you can ONLY purchase with in-game currency(Don't need to pay actual money for these). These character items can be included in your build/loadout and when they're fully upgraded, they'll buff your character's personal kit such as lower cooldowns, costs or increased damage, special effects, etc. Sometimes drastically increasing the character's capabilities.

3. Game's been censored, lowered down the jiggle physics, toned down the amount of skin that the female characters were showing and toned down their bust sizes. Some of the curators have already covered this, but there's a mod that patches the game to the uncensored version.

Cons:

1. Other players have covered this topic but the servers aren't uh.......They aren't as fluid or as consistent as other servers that you'll generally see in player versus player games, so you'll sometimes get extremely bad latency and you'll sometimes get extremely good latency.
ᵀʰᵉʸ'ʳᵉ ᵗʳᵃˢʰ ʰᵉˡᵖ ᵐᵉ

2. Matchmaking's not really balanced, least not now I don't think. Sometimes you'll get balanced matches where everyone has equal skill level and sometimes you'll get matches where a team filled with newbies fight against seasoned veterans.

3. Report system's kinda meh. Don't think the Nexon staff are as on top of things as they should be for reports. Definitely should add a notification system to give reporters a sense that something's actually been done instead of the current negative speculation on how lazy/horrible the Nexon Staff are at taking care of the community. Definitely should also be more on top of negativity/toxicity reports, don't want to turn the game into a wasteland due to neglect.

Thanks for reading if you've managed to make it this far! Definitely give this a try, you won't regret it and the download's not too big either.

Early Access Review
Summary:

I'm going to rant a lot on the flaws for the game itself, I follow the philosophy of just getting straight to the point instead of buttering things up(although the game definitely has some good points amidst the glaring flaws). Don't buy the game unless if you're willing to support the developers, simple as that. They're doing a very fine job so far, especially with how they're listening to the community's opinions. The game just recently came out so this state is understandable and there's not a lot of content out right now, so don't come in with any high expectations. Buying the game should net you around 30-80 hours of gameplay(maybe more if you're the creative type) if you're going to just try climbing up in levels and you don't mind the repetitiveness. Only thing that breaks the repetitivity would be through the game's building system.

Quick note on the Devs:

Developers are hard at work patching and adding more content to the game(I see patches, not on a weekly basis, but on a DAILY one, which is very appreciated) there's not too much substance as of now but there'll probably be a whole lot more in the near future with the rate that they're going. They're keeping promises to the community unlike some other developers, so that's the one thing that I like about them to be honest.

Gameplay notes:

One of the reasons that the game gets extremely repetitive is because the game has no NPCs or storylines or anything interactive in that sense. All you'll really have is the progression system set up by the Devs which includes but is not limited to taming, spells, weapon progression, armor progression, flight progression, potion progression, building progression, etc. Be mindful of the fact that it's usually a big grind for them since this is all based off of a leveling system. This leads up to my next point..

Building:

There are three types of building "packs", Wood, Stone and Ornate. Wood being the earliest pack that you can get while Ornate being end game. In each of the three packs comes with six building blocks which are as follows:

Floor
Wall
Door
------------------------------------------------------(I'll explain this cutoff line further below)
Stairway
Roof
Railing

The first half of the building blocks, you unlock at let's say level 20. But to get ALL of the blocks in the pack, you would need to earn FIVE more levels to unlock the other half of the pack, meaning if you got them at 20, you would need to be at level 25 to get ALL of the blocks. You DO get experience for placing blocks and there are a variety of options such as curved blocks, diagonal blocks, etc, so I guess that's an upside.

Leveling:

There are three main ways to get experience in the game(Least from what I remember).

1. Killing mobs
2. Crafting and Placement
3. Gathering

Alright so i'll mainly be focusing on experience farming with mobs. Killing mobs is a no brainer since you see it in just about any MMO and sandbox, you get experience, you get materials, what is there not to like? The thing that NO-ONE likes in ANY game when it involves mobs, would be mindlessly grinding with no interactive features such as special movesets. The problem lies with the combat system. It's very boring to me so far since the A.I. follows the same set of patterns with no special ability movesets, all mobs are basically just reskinned versions of eachother in a sense. You don't actually need to dodge or pay attention to the flow of battle. A.I. just isn't really dynamic in any way. Alright, moving onto the flow of battle, combat usually plays out is this...

The A.I. will do zigzag patterns at a set speed to try and make you miss all of your shots if they're regardless of whether you're right in front of them or are moving away/kiting them. Another example of a set pattern is the classic bum rush where the A.I. just straight up moves at their set speed and charges at you, tracking you until you leave their aggro range. None of the mobs have special abilities or movesets besides maybe the flying mobs. Combat in this game just REALLY doesn't feel satisfying, especially since mobs are just bullet sponges. There's no weak or critical points or elemental resistances that you have to account for, etc, and you DON'T need to adapt to the situation by dodging or moving in accordance with their moveset since their movesets are all just the same...

There's no block or guard systems or anything as well so melee combat is literally just spell casting except the range of the spells are shortened to melee range, ALL you gotta really do during combat if you want to be efficient with your pots, etc, is either get into a high position where they can't reach you OR you kite them slowly while face tanking all of their hits by spam drinking all of the pots in the world. The people who have played the game will know what i'm talking about.

Flying Combat:

Not really something that I delve into, it's too mana hungry and not really worth the effort. Not too interactive either since the A.I. is the same as what I just stated above, except, they have more freedom of movement and can actually move up or down this time. There was a point where one of the mobs just flew out into the out of bounds area and I didn't realize it until too late, so I died and just lost all of my gear(feelsbad). I burnt about 50-100 mana pots just trying to cast spells while handling the mana upkeep for my broomstick during flight. There IS an accessory that improves your mana regen, but that leads me to my next point.

Accessories:

In the game there's 4 accessories that you can equip and there are two ways to fly(Broomsticks and potions). The problem is you only have ONE accessory slot available to you and that one accessory slot is also the spot where you equip your FLYING GEAR. So your options are...

1. Equip one of the four accessories into that slot
2. Equip one of the flying gears provided to you

You can't equip anything more than that. People are probably going to argue that once you land from the sky you can probably switch out the flying gear for an accessory but my response is, "What's the point of having four accessories available to you if you can't equip all of them at once? Would it be too overpowered? No, because the developers can balance out the mobs to react to that, and all players have access to those accessories starting at level five."

Taming:

Also not interactive, you get a spell to tame things at level 10 but you can only tame things that are within 10 levels of you. You need to craft Taming scrolls to increase their "Loyalty" which is basically the duration that they'll be tamed for. You'll basically just equip the taming spell and stand next to something for 10-30 minutes(depending on how many times you fail/forget to drink a mana potion) holding the mousebutton on the creature while spam drinking potions and praying that you have enough potions to last throughout the whole taming period. Once the bar surrounding the creature's portrait is filled up, you name it.

Siege Combat:

To those that are complaining about Siege Spells being improper, etc, they did a hotfix and the new levels for each spell are now...

15, 30 and 45.

Basically how it works now is that you have spells that are specifically for sieging and the regular spells that you use for PVE no longer work on buildings. You need to go off and kill some mobs and gather materials in order to craft the spell itself which acts as a charge(The spell's not infinite, you gotta craft the spell every time you run out of uses). It's not really rewarding to be honest, maybe you'll get lucky and find a few chests with valuable loot?....Sieging is really just there for the trolls and griefers. There's no machinery or anything involved so it's kinda disappointing, no was to get better gear through raiding, wars, etc either. You don't get any bonuses at all whether you're in a faction or not.

Game: 6/10

One of the better games out there. Honestly, pretty addicting as well as fun. Played this game about two weeks ago and I have about 70 hours of game time on my steam account atm, but I also have a legacy account(the one that uses the classic Neople launcher) that's participated in beta(only got to level 30 in beta before I left) and just came back recently to relevel all of my characters, with a few sitting at 90 so I have about 300-400 hours in total?..... Graphics are a bit outdated(It's a beat em up, what do you expect? Street Fighter?), but the effects are pretty spectacular.

The BGMs for the different areas are works of art, they could make money by just selling them if they wanted to. Some of the quests require a certain amount of items like 200 cloth scraps or blah blah blah, but you can buy just about every single one of those items at a cheap price in the auction hall(300k-600k for all 200, don't worry I'll explain more). It's INCREDIBLY easy to make money in the game. I have characters under 50 that have 5 mil on them right now just by selling items to npcs while spending only three-four days ingame at most. Think of how much money you'd make if you sell items through the AUCTION HOUSE.

One of the easiest games to play out there, yet one of the hardest games to master especially with the combos and juggling and all that stuff for both pvp and pve. You can manually input skills instead of using skillslots if you're a hardcore player(you'll be rewarded for it with lower cooldown, there is also a weapon out currently called a Balmung that rewards players with increased damage percentage, about 5% per empty skillslot, haven't heard of any other weapons that give the same benefit. You have a total of 12 skillslots/hot key slots within the game.

Seriously, PVP and PVE are completeeely different animals. There are different skill builds for each and you get experience for doing each but it's recommended to do PVP when you get to late game as you will have more skills unlocked and upgraded, you can still do it, but you'll be matched with high levels if you do ranked PVP, there's practice PVP which you can make a lobby or join one and invite your friends, the artwork for PVP as well as the system for it is similar to any major fighting game such as Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat(you can swap out with your teammates and stuff).

The community's also quite willing to help. Sure, there will be those few toxic and salty POS, but there certainly are people out there who are willing to help guide you through the process.

Some might ask, "Is this game pay 2 win?". The answer is "Not exactly", it's not pay 2 win unless if you're lazy and just wanna do it for convenience. There are cosmetic items as well as something called rare avatar clones(you can put emblems on these rare avatar clones which give you additional stats and stuff, but you need to grab the emblems from drops in dungeons, you can't buy them with cash) that can be paid for in cash, but can also be given away from events or traded for through the game itself with in-game currency. There's also something called a mileage shop where you can buy cash shop items with points that you get for running dungeons but you'll be limited to certain items.

There IS a fatigue system in this game, the reason they have it was because of a Korean Law but game's been transferred to Overseas so I honestly don't know if they're planning on getting rid of it or not. It's been doing a good job at keeping a majority of the gold botters away though which is a big plus. So how the fatigue system works is, you burn fatigue points(fp) for every dungeon that you run(1 per map block). If you have 1 fp left and you try to run a dungeon, you'll be allowed to completely finish the dungeon even though each map block costs 1 fp. There are also items called Fatigue Pots which can be crafted by Alchemists(One of the professions that are open to everyone in game, albeit you need to be a high leveled Alchemist to make them) and be bought from the auction hall at a very cheap price(10-30k? You can make 50k in 10 minutes). You can also buy fatigue pots from the mileage shop and be given them from events. It's quite hard to burn all of your fp unless if you no life the game(Like I am. Q.Q), as of now there are events that increase your max fp during weekends(If I remember correctly, max FP that you'll have while participating in the event is around 500-800?) which is easily a full day or two's worth of gametime. Don't worry about it too much if stamina systems in any game turns you off, you still have pvp to turn to. If the system really bothers you that much or you really just want to PVE and no life grind the ♥♥♥♥ out of it, you can pay $1 for the play more pack on steam which gives you an unlimited experience pot(>.> Can only use it once every 30 minutes, but it lasts 30 minutes so you basically get a permanent +200% exp all the way until level 70) as well as an unlimited fatigue pot(>.> Can only use it once per day) that recovers 156 points for 30 days all the way until level 70.

Give it a try and see what you think, not like you got anything to lose except for maybe your soul....As well as your job, your wife, your house, your kids, your health and your car. Nothing serious.

Overall:
BGM: 10/10
Art: 8/10
Effects: 9/10
Gameplay: 9/10 (Fatigue Point System is kinda meh if you're a no life grinder like I am but, it's whatever. Least they care about your health I guess? Lol.)
Community: 9/10
Pay to Win?: 2/10

Side Note: If you read this wall of text, more power as well as props to you. If you didn't...Well that's too bad and a bit of a shame. Q.Q So rude man, so rude. Alright here we go to all of those that want a summary or just skipped the wall of text.

TL;DR : Game's great, BGMs are great, Artwork's decent. Flashy effects, gameplay's easy to get into but hard to master(serving both hotkey binds as well as manual input for skills). Barely any Pay 2 Win aspects, you'll only get a small boost if you opt into Clone Avatars which you can put stat boosting emblems into. There's a Mileage Shop which is the free version of the Cash Shop. Has a Fatigue Point system that's needed to run dungeons and can be bypassed with Fatigue Potions. Barely any Gold Bots, literally only see 1 or 2 out of 50-100 people in each area. Quests are also both easy to finish and easy to grab a hold on the materials needed for them. Money making is still quite easy as well as sizeable if you only sell to NPCs, you'll get a lot more if you sell to the Auction House. Game serves both PVE and PVP people with a variety of skill builds and limitations for each.

Haha, anyways, once again, give the game a try. The game won't please everyone, but it'll certainly attract a crowd.

Game's decent. It's not really innovative at all, combat system's meh, basically the usual MMO except you have two options, standard(where you point, click and spam the living ♥♥♥♥♥ out of your keyboard) or action(where you move your mouse and actually point towards the direction your character should go in WHILE spamming your keyboard).
The graphics are beautiful in my opinion, it uses Cry Engine. Game has a taming system that's basically like pokemon's, except you don't have a pokeball.

>>>>>>>>>>>>It's also completely not pay to win unlike other MMOs. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Literally just have Elluins(In game cash currency) to use on costumes(for players and familiars) or premium services(which doesn't really change anything). Playing it atm just to see if I can be a Pokemon Master. Remember, not a single MMO got a 75% or higher, at least that's what I'm currently seeing/remembering( :3 ).

Not gonna lie but......I'm not addicted at all.
