Counter-Strike: Source is only $9.99, I'd play that instead.

You should get this DLC to enjoy BL2 but it had a negative effect on the state of the entire game.

• It added 8 levels from 72 removing some build diversity
• It added OP10 (I'm here for the challenge but OP8 was definitely sufficient and OP10 makes casuals not even consider OP levels anymore)
• Vorac and Hyperius have glitched double HP in the OP levels now (Axton's ammo pool is now barely sufficient enough to solo Vorac in the span of 30 minutes)
• Anyone who doesn't have this DLC who had access to OP8 level 72 now has no OP level 80.

As for the DLC itself, mediocre, power-crept, only okay thing is it gave rare enemies better dedicated farms. Most new weapons are copy paste old weapons with better stats. Added raid boss which is a gear specific burst damage kill, unless you finish him quick you literally cannot defeat the boss; if you do finish him quick well it didn't really feel like a raid boss, just a lame mechanic imo. A general playthrough of the DLC main quests feels pretty good at least. One nice thing is if OP10 seems insurmountable, you can do your own personal difficulty selection like staying at OP4 for example. I definitely find level 80 extremely easy and boring though, it's more challenging playing level 50-56 before you have 2 full skill trees and when you're still probably relying on level 50 gear to fight enemies so many levels higher.

The bosses have stacked loot pools uncharacteristic of BL2 and more like BL3 so there's some world drop farms. There's the best loot midget farm right next to a fast travel and the best area to spawn tubbies by another so have fun save quit farming for the legendary COMs, relics, and like 4 relevant pearls there. These 2 sentences are about the only reason this DLC has staying power though. They even wrote Tina to have anxiety issues or some ♥♥♥♥ like bro stop humanizing videogames with your own personal mental issues lol?

TLDR DLC is mediocre, really hurt the original base game. If you don't have this DLC, I'd only get it if you end up getting to level 80 and think you want a challenge.

Early Access Review
Great game, not gonna give a basic synopsis but more nitty-gritty things that I like that other games do similar but get wrong a lot...oh, and just know the dev team fantastic. I DM'd them a decent list of things I'd change/fix and they've worked on a bunch of stuff I mentioned and addressed others in patch notes within a single seasonal update. This game really does seem like a diamond in the rough passion project in the currently over-saturated gaming industry.

If you like traditional FPS games, this one is a bit more quirky and unique so some of the weapons might be a turn-off to you; but it does have weapons for you and I can't guess how many times weapons I initially didn't like grew on me. It has really tight movement where you can strafe while airborne instead of traditional momentum feeling movement like a lot of other games as well, it's not for everyone but I think it works. Character abilities are present although not over-centralizing so it adds flavor without ruining the flow of the game where some games will get it wrong and you're powerless without your ability and have to just sit and wait for cooldowns. Some runs you don't even spec into ability buffs and you'll end up not using them so much so don't worry, even if you don't like abilities they are not necessary, there are other passive buffs you could get that have good synergy.

Before starting my review I want to mention that I have been a fan of Fly O'Clock for 5 years now, been to FOREVER ENTERTAINMENT S.A. at Comiket 3 times (C81 / C85 / C87) for Fly O'Clock (nothing Fly O'Clock related at C83), I own the doujins including Fly O'Clockdise EX (not sold) etc. So I am quite an engaged fan.

I'll just jump straight to usual criteria when reviewing a Visual Novel. Minor spoilers below.

Graphics & Chara Design: 10/10.

If you liked the doujins, you will love the game. FOREVER ENTERTAINMENT S.A.'s work is great as always. There isn't much to write about this really, just look at couple screenshots and you'll make your own opinion in seconds.

Animations: 10/10

The e-mote engine makes characters really lively and provides a huge added value compared to a classic 2D visual novel. Scenes are never static; there is always movement which is great. And... the game has a chest bounciness slider.

H-Scenes: 9/10

There are 3 H-Scenes in Fly O'Clock. All three are really well animated and fully voiced. These 3 scenes are really long too and accounts for a solid 25% of your total playtime. The way the fly and the bee behave is in-line with the doujins.

If you get the game on Steam (all-age version); you'll miss them and frankly the game lose almost all its value without H-Scenes... which brings me to my next point.

Plot/Story/Character Development: 3/10

The weakest point of FLY O'CLOCK. There is barely any plot (didn't really expect any, still), everything is introduced way too quickly. You barely know anything about the background of the characters, the reader doesn't have the time to feel immersed and love characters... and the MC is really dull.

The first H-Scene is introduced poorly. You jump from a "We are like a family!" to "I'm in heat let's have s*x now" in... 15 minutes of gameplay. The whole game is rather short (about 6~7 hours). In time equivalent inside the story, that's about one week. The game has 8 chapters and one chapter is roughly one day. And in a single week characters evolve way too quickly which kinda ruins everything. The pace overall is just really bad.

Voices: 9/10

Voice acting is great and each seiyuu really matches well the personality of the fly and the bee (can't really comment for others since they don't speak much). H-scenes are voiced too which is great.

Music: 7/10

The music works well with the game but isn't anything special or memorable. There aren't many BGMs but since the game is short that's kind of normal.

Translation: 7/10

The English itself is decent (albeit a bit rough sometimes). The localization itself (when compared to original Korean text) could use some polish. If you don't understand Korean you will not notice that part however. Note that the game is also localized in Chinese (but I don't speak Chinese, so not reviewing that part).

Software/Polish: 10/10

The game is amazingly well presented, the software offers all the usual features you'd expect for a VN (Quick Save/Load, Autoplay, Autoread speed etc.); can adjust the volume of the voice of each character separatly, can save & comment when saving, 80 save slots (not really necessary but w/e). UI and Text language can be changed on the Fly O'Clock. Heh, get it? It is also possible to display the text in two languages at once (i.e. English and Korean) which is really great if you are learning. Didn't experience any crash or any issue. Flawless.

OVERALL: 8/10

FLY O'CLOCK isn't a "game" or even Visual Novel for everyone. If you are looking for a long VN with an actual plot, this isn't for you. If you like cute flies and bees and want to play something short, enjoy couple nice H-scenes, then this is it. If you are a fan of FOREVER ENTERTAINMENT S.A.'s work you'll want to get the game no matter what.

While the game is short, its price is small too. The game doesn't have any replay value beside H-scenes3 (No different route, no choices to pick).

Eagerly waiting for Fly O'Clock 2

Best 50 cents ever spent. If my broski brock didn't spot me this game, I would have masturbated and ejaculated all over my closet door handle. After playing this game for roughly 20 minutes, my sex drive has astronomically recovered and I have much more T. I finished the game twice recieving all of the achievements except one and I am very satisfied with the results of the game. In other words what I am trying to say is Failure is an unavoidable fact of life. Its devilish claws knock you down when you least expect it, but it's how you react to disappointment that's important. Shan Gui is the digital embodiment of the idea that pleasure can spring from pain, but although death is pervasive in this 2D platformer, it does not define the experience. There is an incredible sense of satisfaction when you clear a particularly nasty level that makes the setbacks you endured to reach that lofty goal well worth it. It's the feeling you get when you miraculously squeeze through two slicing blades unscathed or leap in the air to snatch a dangling bandage that seemed impossible to reach only moments earlier that continually pushes you forward to tackle the next challenge. Shan Gui is an extraordinary game that makes you work for every inch you gain, which makes success taste so much sweeter when you finally get there.
