Game play is fun. But boy by golly is the monetization predatory and the character designs are what we'll call "suspect" at best. Not to mention I think I've seen more diversity of background and identity in a small town high school than the entire cast present in this game. So that's not very cash money.

Would love to see it's issues fixed and it's horizons broadened, but till then I can't see any good reason to really spend money on this. I would rather spend money on warframe and that game makes my eyeballs bleed.

Look the last patch caused a lot of vitriol on the discord, and its not really worth a negative review. However the response to the response has been a blog post that seemed really disconnected with the wants of the players and an AH dev in discord being a trash human being insulting goading and straw-manning the, admittedly ill worded, discontent of the masses without any observable repercussions while discord mods kept spamming about being kind. So like, the game's probably still fine but its getting a negative from me till the situation improves and I can say the company manages its people and maintains some kind of professional and connected discussion with its consumer base.

Update (august 2024)- There seems to be yet another problematic patch with more apologies and statements from arrow head staff as though this company is allergic to changing anything correctly in the eyes of the player base. I kind of thought it might be an overreaction. But seeing as on steamdb we're seeing this game have it's active players go from the 400,000 ~ 300,000 range at launch to the now 60,000 ~ 30,000 range with it pretty much only trending downward it seems well in truly like there's some terminal issue with the project or the company behind the project. Go look up the graph the numbers don't do it justice.

Arrowhead studios' motto is somehow still "A game for everyone is a game for no one", and I find that both incredibly toxic and astoundingly ironic. Because they made a game that 400,000+ people were enjoying together at a time. And at the time it sure seemed like it was a game for everyone, or real dang close, but obviously they have a moral obligation to prove their motto correct by tanking their player base till nothing is left. Absolute clowns.
