In Noita, the enemy most likely to kill you... is yourself.

You might catch fire or explode. You might catch a sawblade to the face or kick an exploding barrel directly into an enemy's projectile. You might take a dip in a polymorphine potion, face-melting acid or burning lava. And if you're really clever, you might combine two spells to create a magic wand that can kill everything... including you. And it'll all be your fault.

Play this game. Die. Experiment. Die more. Learn more. Try new spells. Die in new ways. Explore deeper. Master the radical art of minecart kickflips. And maybe, just maybe, find the secret to eternal life...

"I Can't Believe It's Early Access!"™

This game is like snorting a line of Command and Conquer off the corseted brassiere of a steampunk cosplayer.

Admittedly, there's not a lot of brassieres, but there is an isometric grid, walls, garrison towers, high counts of tiny units, simple but surprisingly deep resource management, memorable one-liners, and a core gameplay loop that is instantly addictive. It also has mouse-wheel zoom to get in close and examine its beautifully illustrated sprites or zoom out to view the full scope of the 20,000 unit hordes of the final wave.

Let me repeat that. The final wave is 20,000 units on screen at the same time.

Buy this game.

V 1.0 EDIT: The campaign has released, and it is... well, they tried. This game is still absolutely worth it for the survival mode, and my prior review still stands.

A sandcastle is no fun without a tide. Thankfully, ONI has tides aplenty.

Many colony builder/sandbox games fail to learn this lesson - including the granddaddy of the genre, Dwarf Fortress. Oxygen Not Included, by contrast, takes its lessons from its older sibling, Don't Starve. Something is always in danger of breaking down or running out, so you never have a shortage of puzzles to solve. For a genre veteran who's grown tired of participation trophies, ONI is already a breath of fresh air.

For a game in alpha to be this fun is quite an achievement. My jaw literally dropped when I saw a ship collision firsthand.

I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys design/construction or goofing around.
