Pay no mind to the salty peasants crying about being banned. 2,000 people were banned, and as stated by a dev post, they were banned for using third party software to cheat. They deserve their ban.

Honestly....if Disney wanted to...they could just remaster the game...and sell it for 60$

People would buy it....and they'd make their money back.

They might even make more money then they did on the new movies....

1: Find some random Uruk.

2: Let said random Uruk kill you.

3: Said Uruk now has a name (we will call him Bob), and becomes a captain in Sauron's army.

4: Find some random Uruk that has intel on members within the army's hierarchy.

5: Send a death threat through above Uruk, to Bob.

6: Bob recruits some bodyguards, and rises in power.

7: Find Bob having a dual with a higher ranked Uruk captain.

8: Kill other captain.

.........................

20: After much slaying of the Uruks for Bob....KILL BOB.

Profit....

10 out of 10, would get killed by an Uruk again.

Firstly, I have followed this game's development for the past 10 months by watching let's play videos of it by GameEdge on youtube. By just the changes you can see over those past 10 months, I can tell you this developer (a one man army) has been working his ass off.

On to the (partial) review.

1: The game is not only an Early Access game, but as far as EA goes, and the general life expectancy of the EA stage, it is in the infancy of EA. The base game is there. The mechanics are smooth. The graphics are impressive for a one man developed game on the Unreal Engine. New features are being added regularly, and game breaking bugs are being dealt with ASAP.

2: This game just came into public EA. Before now it was a private EA title. I can tell you that TONS of people have been begging for this game to reach public EA since let's plays of it first hit youtube.

3: Do not compare this game to Rust. Different engines, different mechanics, and an extremely different take on what Survival is supposed to be.

4: This game DOES NOT HOLD YOUR HAND. There are no tutorials. There is no "hints" system. You begin the game with a few basic things, like some water, some food, matches, a glow stick, and an axe. Any person that has even a smidgen of intelligence will now that the axe is likely used to chop wood from any of the trees in the game.

Honestly...."Survival" games from 2010-2014 have been pushing this whole mentality of hand-holding on the players. It dumbs down the games, and lowers expectations the players have.

Subsistence does not do this. You are not told what to do, where to go, or how to survive. You will be brutally murdered by a wolf or bear, or AI Hunter, at some point in this game. This is a fact.

If you are an intelligent person that's tired of having your hand held, then keep reading. Otherwise, GTFO and go back to 7D2D or Rust.

You chop wood. You run around and collect fiber from specific plants. You loot various resources ranging from building supplies to weapon supplies, food items, and medical supplies from "randomly" spawned crates.

These crates have different looks which tell you what they might have in them. The crates have a despawn timer. After a few minuets they will despawn, and randomly spawn somewhere else.

When you die, all your stuff is dropped in a small crate on the ground. If you have a proper base built, you can spawn at it and then run back to your crate. Otherwise you are spawned somewhere randomly in the map.

The crate you drop on death will only last for 5 minuets. This means you may or may not get back to your chest in time.

The Wolves and Bears are brutal. They are faster than you. They do more damage than you. They have more health than you. When they kill you, they level up. Increasing their health, and damage done. For most of your first few hours playing this game, you will either run away from each animal, or you will grow a pair, and shoot that level one wolf with 5 9mm bullets and kill him dead. Then you will cook his meat and eat it.

The base building in this game is on par with games like Ark, Empyrion, and Osiris. Look at youtube videos featuring building for this game for more details.

End of Review. I have only put 20 hours into the game so far. I still have plenty of things to do with base building, npc killing, animal hunting, farming, rasing chickens, and upgrading my guns.

Once I do all that, and put in another 20 or so hours, I will complete this review with a yes or no for recommendation.

If you are on the fence about whether or not you want to buy this fairly cheap, yet very polished for what it is EA game, go watch some old lets plays by GameEdge, then watch his newest videos for the game.

You will get both a sense of where the game started, how far it has come in a short time, and where it is headed. Go to the forums. Ask ColdGames any questions you might have. Either he or others in the community will answer them fairly quickly.

Morality in video games tends to be a hit or miss kind of thing. That said though, they did a really good job with the morality system in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Why they chose to remove such a good feature from Fallout 4 baffles me.

One thing morality tends to do in the games it's used in, is create a closer bond between you and the character you are playing. And why wouldn't it? Most morality choices you end up making are based on your own morales.

With its removal from Fallout 4, the character you are left to play feels....hollow. Sure, people get mad at you for stealing things, but it doesnt really affect the overall game.

Personally, I feel like they tried to take a page out of the BioShock Infinite book. For the third game, BioShock left in what seemed like actual moral choices, that most people assumed would have unforseen consequences later in the game, based purely on the last 2 games in the series. By the end of that game though, it is actually revealed that most if not all choices you made, which you thought might have moral repercussions, didn't.

Overall, their approach to arbitrary moral decisions actually worked in their favor. However, BioShock has always been able to use morales to great effect.

It seems like Bethesda tried to do this on some level with Fallout 4, but they failed miserably at it. Removing such a core feature from Fallout 4 that was in past games, then failing to supplement it in some way, just made the whole story feel kind of....inconsequential.

It really doesn't matter how you play the game, good guy or bad. None of your choices, albeit which factions you join, actually affect the game when it comes to content you can play.

In Fallout 3, you are actually given a choice to sacrifice yourself or someone else to essentially save everyone else in the game. If you choose to sacrifice yourself, that's it, game over. The only option you get past that is loading from a previous save. If you choose to sacrifice someone else, yeah you become evil as all hell, but you also get to play hours of more content.

Choices like that made the game have such high replay value.

But they just threw all of that kind of stuff out with Fallout 4. Not their greatest move.

I would honestly suggest that you buy Fallout 3 or New Vegas instead of Fallout 4. The whole Creation Club disaster aside, those two games are far better when it comes to story. If you can't stomach the outdated graphics though, then just buy something like The Witcher 3.

Or, if you want to play some games that not only do morality the best of any game, but also can ♥♥♥♥ with your mind, then I would suggest any (or all 3) of the BioShock games. BioShock Infinite is particularly good at mind ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

lets look at some facts.

Fallout 3, a great AAA game for its time, came out in 2008.

It took Bethesda 7 years of development, and re-development to finally give people Fallout 4 this coming november.

Now, the team working on DayZ have only been working on it for 2 years. They have also had members leave, and new people come on to the team. They are, as compared to Bethesda, a very small team. The smaller your team is, the longer development takes. With that said, it still took Bethesda 7 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years with a huge team to create Fallout 4.

The reality of it is this; it could be another 2-5 years before DayZ is finished, or at the least is out of Alpha. So, if you want to help that team along, and get to play a game that IS STILL BEING DEVELOPED, then by all means buy the game.

But if all you want to do is buy the game and then give it ♥♥♥♥ reviews then ♥♥♥♥ off. they have a very clear disclaimer telling you that the game is in its infancy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bit of a side note here. It seems like people expected this game to be finished or be in Beta by now. What people seem to forget, is that this game was created from scratch. The DayZ mod for Arma was relatively easy to make, as they already had all the code and resources at their disposal. This is not the case for the Standalone people....This game has literally been created from the ground up with new code, new assets, and a smaller crew then the team that made Arma.

No one should under any circumstance compare the development life cycle of DayZ:SA to the DayZ Arma mod. Other than overall end goal, they share nothing in common. Different code, different assets, different team.
