It starts with one antimmatter dimension then 7 other, and before you know it, there's a new layer.
And then another one.
And then another one.
And then another one.
....
This Idle game is the perfect balance between idle and active play and the new layers give really good feeling of progression.

There is however a point where the game becomes more like a puzzle game where you have to figure out how to beat certain challenges to progress (or just go read a guide). Personnally I wasn't bothered at all and it motivated me even more to push forward.

But in the end, does it even matter?

Lets be real, without Chris' work on the soundtrack, the game would lose at least 50% of its rating

TLDR: New mechanics are annoying, key binding and remapping is annoying / bugged, multiplayer is bugged, but playable, killing zombies is now a chore.

PSA: English is not my mother tongue and there might be some grammar and orthographic mistakes here and there (or in the whole review, IDK it's my longest yet, but I tried my best).
I finished the game and I just can't recommend it for the following reasons :
- Getting ability points for stamina and health through inhibitors "hidden" around the map feels more like a chore than a reward .
- The stamina that now is drained while climbing is very annoying even if you spend most of your ability points in stamina.
- Parkour feels now more clunky then in the first game, coupled with that draining stamina is very frustrating.
- Some abilities just won't work if you have made the "mistake" to rearrange the keybinding (eg. scoping with a bow won't work if you also have the "block" action on the same key", sliding under small obstacles only works if you have "toggle crouch" on) .
- Some abilities are just hard bound on a key and will overlap if you have another action bound on it (eg. I bound the "F" key for the flashlight and there's a small QTE that appears while climbing a steep slope that tells you to mash the "F", it will also activate and deactivate my flashlight. Same with the "stomp" action, which is hard bound on "F").
Side note, there was an update on 16.02.2022 which "solved" some issues related to that but there's still some issues as I write this review.
- The crafting mechanic for weapon has been overhauled and now instead of being able to craft on any rarity of weapon, you can only add up to 3 mods (staring on blue rarity) which will add some various effects and will repair some of the weapon's durability (this is the only way to repair weapons also btw...).
- Now each crafting recipes can be upgraded for various increased effects but require you to farm trophies on some "specials" zombies types (most of them appear only at night or during the day but are either some random events or attracted when doing some noise with explosives for exemple) and, of course, for each rank, the amount of required trophies increase and will eventually drain all the fun there was in killing zombies, making it slowly becoming a chore.
- The reward which unlock the crossbow and crossbow-related blueprints from allocating 4 facilities with the PK is bugged if you make the "mistake" to join someone in their game and they also progress and allocate some facilities to either of the 2 factions.
- Multiplayer is not stable (some areas cause the person joining the game to have serious lag and stutter issues) and cutscenes are often broken for the person joining the game (NPC staying in place instead of moving for exemple).
- During the night or in dark spaces, you now have some sort of timer which can be replenished by either standing in UV light or using some consumables. At the beginning you get very little time rendering, once again, the experience is more annoying but as you use inhibitors, this timer is expended and you will also find more than plenty of consumable to refill your timer. After some time you will have more than enough consumable to basically spend hours in the dark that it will feel like this mechanic is just pointless and here to annoy.
- Some of the choices you make during some points in the main quest or in a few side quests don't feel like they have a real impact on what is to come.

The only positive change that I can think of is the gear which allows some "customisation" on your character which will increase some stats depending on archetype of the gear which will increase your damage with melee weapon, increase your stamina regeneration or increase parkour / combat experience for exemple. The gear is random (archetype and rarity) and, once again, some grind is required.

I was halfway through the story quest and tried to do as much side content as possible but, as frustrating as it was (see complaints above), I just wanted to get done with it and rushed through the story which ultimately left me a bad experience of the game.

I have now uninstalled the game out of frustration (and will still probably stay in this state) after trying ultimately to play with friends (which was initially my first intent), only to have some huge lag and stutter problems which I don't have playing alone.

Though I really liked the artbook and I didn't really care about the in-game cosmetic, this review is more focused on the OST (which was the main point of my purchase).

Don't get me wrong, the OST is really good, but the way the files are presented in the Steam folder really bother me.

The tracks are just titled "SCARLET_NEXUS_soundtrack_Minsert track number here_insert track name here" whithout any more information (no album name, no composer, no album cover, etc...) and it feels like it was straight up ripped from the game and sold it as it is, without any more efforts.
Please, you have some talented people who worked on this OST, the least you could do is crediting them in the tracks informations.

Once again, I'm not complaining about the quality of the tracks, but it just feels like I've torrented them and not bought them legitimately.
