Just another entry into a crowded field. It's fun for what it is, but I guess I'm a little fatigued on this play style...nothing here that grabbed me strongly enough to keep me hooked.

My quick take? A good game and definite thumbs up.

Be warned though, not a lot of hand holding with this game, but very enjoyable once you figure things out. Even easy can be difficult until you start understanding the rules. I restarted a number of times after hours into the game after realizing some of the mistakes I made in party comp, spending, etc...At this time, I've played 30 hrs and only half understand the classes and skills and how they affect combat.

UI could stand to be improved, but this is a minor issue - I don't like having to un-equip and item to upgrade it or otherwise move between multiple screens to check inventory while in a shop or like...

I also wish for a stronger story line that kept the game moving forward toward a goal....but if you like the open world do things in your own time frame, then I guess it accomplishes this goal.

A Risk like conquest and expansion game with very simple economy and lots of maps.

Might be a good game, but I personally don't go for games that punish you when trying to be casual.

Initial thoughts after 2 hours...

Seems like a solid entry to the genre. It's not too complicated to learn the basics, but I've barely scratched the surface of all the possible combinations to cities building, hero progression, spells, etc...

I'm enjoying the making "mistakes" while discovering the world and trying to expand my empire. Combat is satisfying and it is very helpful to see an approximate power comparison prior to making the decision to enter combat. I've lightly tried both a warrior leader and a magic leader and though I haven't leveled past lvl 6 with either, both are suitably playable.

There is so much left to discover that I'm sure I'll enjoy many hours playing this game.

I like a lot of the concepts and the game was fun for a bit, but it needs A LOT of work. I understand its early access, so maybe I'll come back to it in a year or so. In the meantime, looking forward to the release of 7D2D Alpha 21!

What I liked:
1) Traps - there is a great variety of traps. Love it!
2) Varied zombies - big one, small ones, various abilities...awesome!
3) Fire - Quick put out the fire before it spreads...oh no, my poor burning base!

What I disliked:
1) BOXES TOO SMALL - Spending half my day trying to find the box with that missing item is not fun.
2) Too many crafting tables & tabs - same problem as above.
3) Big instances need work - went up 15 stories of a high rise and every floor was exactly the same...
4) Wish everything was destructible...a lot of furniture/things that feel like they should be lootable that just aren't.
5) The start is very unforgiving. It is a mad rush to building your first base. If you spend too much time relocating, you have no chance of surviving the night and the night hoard doesn't de-spawn in the morning.

I tried this game (being a fan of both Slay the Spire and tower defense)...sounds like a great combination.

And, while it is a great concept of a game - and fun - it isn't anywhere near as polished as Slay the Spire and its explanations leave lots to be desired.

I'd give this game a solid 5-6 on a scale 1 to 10. I'd score it maybe a little higher IF more time was giving to helping new players understand the mechanics...but the game just throws you in and leaves you guessing as to what cards will actually do. Imo, better descriptions in all areas of the game are needed.

This is a terrific remake of the original MoM.

Is it perfect successor we all hoped for? Probably not.
Is it fun? At least for a few play throughs...

The developer has continued to improve the game (both QOL and expansions) and I am enjoying it even more than at release. I am now looking forward to multiple play throughs and and intrigued to see where the developer goes from here.

Am I still looking forward to the next MoM / Heroes III category defining Fantasy 4x? Yep. Always.

It's risk...only better.

I've had this one for a while and thorough enjoyed it.

I love the flexibility of the character design system which makes replaying with a new character so interesting. Graphics weren't great, but I can live with that. There is virtually no story to speak of, which is also okay. This is a game to play if you want to experiment with character builds while pushing deeper and deeper into the dungeon.

I loved it..so here's to hoping for Dungeons of Dredmor 2.
