Easily the best Marvel game I've ever played (PS4 Spider-Man hasn't been released to Steam yet). It was like playing an interactive Guardians of the Galaxy movie with Hollywood-level direction, writing, and acting. An absolute blast.

Go get the Black Knight Halberd if you want to play on Easy mode. No lie, I beat Artorias the first time I fought him. I've never played this far into Dark Souls before and it feels way too easy.

Definitely has potential, but personally, I'm going to give it a few weeks for CDPR to patch the myriad of bugs and glitches I ran into just during the first hour. The biggest one was the camera issues. It might be because I have the FOV slider set to 100 but the whole screen occasionally glitches out like I'm moving the camera rapidly from side to side.

This motherf***** is short. So short that I beat it and now I'm refunding it. Why am I refunding it?

1) It's short. Like, shareware Doom kinda short. I honestly expected more because the end splash screen details destroying 3 pillars and I personally destroyed none. MAYBE they'll release additional episodes but this is not in EA and is complete (apparently)
2) While the first reason could be enough, there is no replay value for me. I'm not a secret hunter. I don't care about 100% completion.
3) OMG the one-liners are so bad. Like a 7th grader trying to be edgy but failing completely.

Interesting concept, awkward execution. My biggest gripe is how combat is handled. I think I would have liked it much better if it was turn-based instead of real-time; having to pause the game every few seconds to move my survivors around or get them out of the way of dangerous enemies breaks the flow and is not very enjoyable for me. However, if you can look past the janky combat you've got yourself a fun colony management game if you have a few hours you want to kill.

Recipe for DOOM:

-1 part Painkiller weapon and enemy craziness, with a heavy emphasis on satisfying and viceral violence.
-1 part Serious Sam fast-paced twitch arena combat and melee finishers. Subtract one-liners.
-Add leftover atmosphere and general story from Doom 3; stir vigorously with idTech Engine 6
-Add metal music medley; 1 part Death, 1 part Industrial, 1 part Heavy; add a dash of techno-dub for that "modern shooter" flavor (a la Far Cry 3)

Download for 6 hours and serve scorchingly awesome.

If you ever think that you might die from over-excitement, play this game. It'll bring you right back down. This is seriously the most boring Action RPG I've ever played. So let's run this down:

Pros:
+Gloomy, atmospheric environments.
+Large selection of weapons (30+)
+Expansive skill trees
+It's another zombie game.

Cons:
-It's ANOTHER zombie game!
-Horrible framerate issues
-Nauseating motion blur
-Banal, unsatisfying combat
-Artificially slow pace. Your character moves like a snail on horse tranquilizers, and scavenging takes more time than is necessary.
-Shallow survival mechanics
-Crosshair is NOT dynamic, and is at a fixed point in the interface, making mouse control feel unnatural and awkward.
-Flat, boring SFX
-DULL AS F***

Conclusion:
The slow pace combined with the horrible motion blur and dull combat led to the most boring ARPG experience in my life. Don't waste your money.

Early Access Review
I play this game every morning in order to gauge whether I will be fortunate in my ventures for the day. A lucky day is determined when my party of fresh-off-the-caravan greenhorn adventurers complete their mission without anyone dying along the way.

That said, I have very few lucky days. This game will test your patience and sanity at times. Other times it will simply decide that you are not worthy of its time and drive every person in your party bananna nut bonkers with a few well-placed critical hits from some of the lowliest enemies in the game. People who play Dwarf Fortress will be familiar with the "Tantrum Spiral" Effect. Darkest Dungeon is no stranger to (read: has an unhealthy obsession with) this phenomenon and will cause a cascading mental breakdown within your entire party on a frequent basis.

Don't get me wrong; I love this game. Something about it keeps me coming back for more punishment time and again. Maybe the fact that even though there is permadeath, there is no true failure state. In other words, you can lose your characters, but you can NEVER lose the game. New meat shields, I mean, heroes arrive by caravan each game week and you can recruit them for free. You may then send them into a dungeon with no supplies to gather as much treasure as they can, then scarper back to town. Free money! Their stress levels will skyrocket, but you can just kick them out and hire the newbies that just arrived by caravan. Rinse, repeat.

This game was worth every penny. Just ask yourself one question before you play..."Do I feel lucky?"

Oh, look. Day One DLC and a $60 price tag. 2K, at least buy your playerbase dinner before buggering them in the butt.
