Buy it and enjoy what will end up being a masterpiece while also supporting a studio trying to do things the right way (in this genre), kind of like what Larian did with BG3.

This is likely the most fun I've had exploring and playing a game since Skyrim first came out.

- Doesn't hold your hand
- Rewards exploration
- Despite narrow enemy-type pool, they all feel fun to fight and defeat
- Ignore the people whining and enjoy a great, great game

The most immersive survival game I've ever played and, damn they got every Dino in the game "right"

A real challenge that is so much fun, especially with friends, but with the intuitive grouping system (that I believe isn't fully fleshed out yet) it's easy to make new friends along the way.

Give it a shot and support these Devs.

They deserve a second chance and they have done a masterful job in committing to the future they see for this wonderful game with endless amounts of potential.

I love this game and you will love it too.

Challenges you in all the right ways, for novice platform-gamers like myself, it gives you that, "Oh god, I have to do THAT?" moment and then you think to yourself how you can't do it, but then you find out that you actually can.

The soundtrack alone makes this a 10/10.

Wonderful story, though very sad/emotional -- Ori will always be a legend!

I will remember this experience for the rest of my life.

"The challenge is to make the right decisions with imperfect information"
-- Paraphrase of Saburo Arasaka's quote taken by Goro Takemura.

Let me start with a quick message before getting deeper into my full review of this wonderful, emotional rollercoaster of a game, one perfect for where we find ourselves in current-day society.

I implore you... PLEASE, if the bugs are bothering you and affecting your experience, give CDPR time to fix this like they did with The Witcher 3, because unlike other companies, they will -- Then, devote time to this game in order to truly explore all that it has to offer.

The story and characters you *can* meet and connect with in Cyberpunk are a once in a lifetime kind of experience and will impact you far beyond what you could even hope to expect, at least it did for me.

Never Fade Away, Friends

FULL REVIEW:
CDPR stands once again head and shoulders above any other game developer for their ability to tell a story and bring every character to life in a meaningful, distinguishable way. There's nothing inherently new about this game's story. It obviously has some cool new-age futuristic twists and turns, but ultimately this is a "one-person army against the world" revenge saga.

Or is it?

THE FOOL:
That question is arguably my favorite bottom-line aspect of this game. CDPR gives the player the choice in how they want to shape and tell their story. Despite certain elements of inevitable fate built-in with any game, we the player get to decide how we want OUR fate to come about. Not only are we given the chance to do so, but the game absolutely requires us to in an almost endless series of meaningful decisions that will make anyone who can think critically (if you're playing this game, I know you can) grapple with the potential consequences of their choices. With our Angel sitting on one shoulder and our Devil rested comfortably upon the other -- both ever watching, waiting patiently to take the reins away from us at some critical juncture. All the while we desperately try to weave our way towards the middle of the two yearning for the "happy ending." The kicker being that we're only plunging ourselves ever deeper into the quicksand with the wool over our eyes. Who's story will you tell, which path will you walk? Your own or will you give in to the endless competing voices inside of your head?

*YOUR* STORY:
Are you the true lone-wolf who wants ultimate power and recognition through your misdeeds and uncompromising ways despite what effects you could have on those you've met along the way. Maybe you've chosen to not even interact with anyone at all because you've set upon the warpath, solely focused on getting back all that has been taken from you? Do the ends always justify the means? You alone hold the key.

LET GO OR HOLD ON FOR DEAR LIFE?
Whoever you are, this game will reward you for it, so long as you have conviction with your decision making. Never waiver! My recommendation is that you really do interpret this game fully as the immersive RPG it is. Play as if you are "V." Let the game wash over your mind and picture yourself having to make these very human and complicated decisions.
-- If you need a moment to stop and think about a choice, then do it. Think about what the consequences of that action or inaction could have on the people you've involved in your story because no matter what you choose, they will make an emotional difference in the end of it all.

YOU ONLY GET YOUR FIRST PLAYTHROUGH ONCE:
Personally, I took the complete opposite of the above mentioned lone-wolf route and leaned heavily on the friends/relationships I formed along the way... Emotionally, I wouldn't have been able to make it through to the end of this story without them, despite the sacrifices my involving them in my escapades required, but I'm so happy that this playthrough is the one I will always refer back to, no matter how many more times I beat it -- I worked for the ending I so desired and I highly recommend you do too.

CHARACTERS:
Panam Palmer is one of the best written characters in any game I can remember, rivaled maybe only by Ciri in her complexity and the competing forces inside that pull for control of her. I found that I could never accurately guess how she would react to my dialogue choices and she always kept me on my toes and shook me back to reality when I lost hold of who I was and what I wanted for my character. I played a feminine "V" (because Judy...) and I'm so glad that I did, but not because of Judy, although she was as lovely as humanly possible (more on her later), but I'm so glad that I did because of the friendship with Panam that's offered with this selected playthrough. It's something truly special, rivaled only by what Geralt and Ciri have with each other, but it has so much more to offer given that there is no history between yourself and Panam -- also that you are peers, not mentor and student.

The game really allows you to become each other's rock in the most pressing and stressful of times and her endless support got me through to light at the end of the tunnel that I couldn't really see until it was finally there -- And I was only able to fully trust it at the very last second because of her.

Admittedly, when I rolled up to Panam working on the engine of her (stolen) junker car for our very first introduction, I didn't think much of the character beyond her amazing looks. She felt kinda stale and stereotypical. Jesus Christ how wrong I was...

Judy Alvarez.

I mean do I really need to go on about her? The scuba mission with her is without a doubt one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had in a game and, ugh the music. The setting. I mean they ♥♥♥♥♥♥' nailed this scenario in every single imaginable way... And it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ side mission. The writing, level and sound design in this mission is truly unmatched by anything I've ever experienced before. I have never felt so many different emotions all at once in a game before. The best part about this mission though is how REAL it made the world feel. Just an hour earlier I was slicing up Maelstrom thugs with my Mantis Blades and helping the soon-to-be new Night City mayor uncover a insidious plot for some ridiculously powerful and unknown force to overtake his mind and turn him into their Manchurian Candidate... Now, all of a sudden the most gentle and beautiful soul in any game ever invites me to go scuba diving to her old neighborhood where she grew up that has since been flooded. I mean who thinks of this!

Only CDPR. That's who.

I was absolutely floored during this entire scene and couldn't believe I was still playing a game. That merging of the two BDs and our minds while discovering her past only to catch her off guard when asking her about certain things and her perspective on those events... Really goes to show you how distorted our memories can be. Obviously a pervasive theme for the game, but set in this tone, with this character?

Beauty in its most raw and pure form.

CONCLUSION:
It's funny, when I first read about how there were the "Lifepath Choices" I knew I wanted to go Nomad because it just felt *right* for whatever subconscious reason, but I ended up trying out all 3 and liking Corpo the most (plus I'd heard about the Ciri easter egg from that path and had to see it for myself). Still though, I found myself kinda sad that I wasn't going to end up as a Nomad at the end... Then I discovered Panam's questline and all of that changed and I got an inkling it might be possible. After finishing her entire line, I was so thrilled with the options I had to choose from at the end of it all.

That's why I say please, please, take your time with this emotional masterpiece. You dont have to do all the gigs and reported crime map markers... Just do all of the character side-missions that you find interesting before you're ready to finish!

I sincerely hope you get from it all that I did and more.

Not comparing the two, but, simply said, this is the best game I've played since The Witcher 3.

Will forever be one of my top game experiences ever. I have played through F: NV 6 times and will do so again probably 8-10 more times before I die. I liked Fallout 3 because it definitely had it's moments that really blew me away and captured my memory, but I'll simply never understand how people could possibly think it was better than this true gem.

Obsidian's vision for this franchise is what set the standard in open-world RPGs for me at the time and I even still look back upon this title for comparison to newer ones in certain aspects.

The story is just so much fun to play through and choosing and reimagining a location like Las Vegas for a Fallout title was brilliant. It's a wickedly intelligent play on the traditional Fallout fallacy that, "everything is totally destroyed and there's nothing but mutant creatures and vile humans who want to kill you in a world thats been desecrated and rid of any sort of decency or civiliaztion." Don't get me wrong, while that statement still holds true, in part, there is also another aspect to this game that breathes an entirely new sort of life into the game's lore and atmosphere, which gives the player a wildly different outlook on Fallout's world. I feel like Bethesda tried (and failed IMO) to capture this feeling in Fallout 4, and while some of the locales were certainly interesting, it mostly fell flat in most respects despite being a fun game.

Play for yourself to understand my above interpretation if somehow you haven't already played this game.

The side quests are some of the best written ones I've played (the BoS and Casino quests, especially) only really comprable to Witcher 3 in my opinion where, even against that masterpiece F: NV can hold it's own. Lastly, I will just say that Yes Man is arguably my favorite video game character beat out only by Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon who will forever hold the top spot.

-- Go without power armor for a true test, but enough ammo like you're killing off Caesar's Legion again.

Although it has a small handful of annoying bugs/glitches, none of which are anywhere close to "game-breaking", Pillars of Eternity is a wonderful experience for those looking for a challenging and potentially even grueling, lore-heavy RPG that will test your patience, sensitivities and your mental acuity.

The combat system is something to be marveled and if you choose to play on a difficulty of "Normal" or harder, you'd better be ready to learn the mechanics on the fly and then be able to implement them with a teactician's eye or you'll pay the price dearly.

If you're a fan of Min/Max, this game's character abilities and attributes will ABSORB you!
-- Although, on the heels of this, there are a myriad of unanswerable questions I have with regards to character stats, stacking, supression, etc.

Let me clarify, it's not that I can't do the research to find the answers, rather that these questions are impossible to answer in of themselves because the game provides no clear path in order to find them out, which is truly frustrating to those of us who can spend 2 hours rearranging items throughout the group in order to (hopefully) create the most effective/efficient stats for our characters and their abilities.

Having said that, the freedoms that the game designers allot to it's players in terms of how they want to play a Wizard or Rogue or whichever and every class is fantastic. It truly makes the player feel like their group is their own and their playthrough is unique.

Other than that, while the story is overwhelming at times, namely the lore, it is a great one that takes you off into so many different directions and you feel absolutely compelled to search EVERYTHING and learn as much as you can.

It is a wonderful world they have created, of which, it's only downfall is the fact that your decisions ultimately don't truly matter or have any real, noticeable effect on the world itself other than a few lines of text and a conversation with an NPC who is meaningless (for all intents and purposes) after you do something potentially world-changing.

Overall, if you're looking for a challenge and want to be absorbed into another world for 40-50 hours, you'd be a fool not play this game.

The most fun I've had playing a video game (outside of The Witcher 3) in many, many years.
