Monetisation is everywhere you look, but that's understandable considering the game is perfectly playable for free. You've really got nothing to lose by giving it a go (which makes a detailed review pointless).

Be aware there's a lot of salt in the community right now regarding the way submarines have been implemented. The frustrations are justified, but don't take the game too seriously and you'll have more fun. You spawn, you shoot some stuff, you sink, you grab another beer.

A singularly unique game. I've always wanted a sailing sim that pays proper homage to the age of sail. I've played a LOT of games over the years, and some of them have come close but never quite hit the spot. They've always over-simplified this or that, or focused on aspects other than, you know .. sailing. This utterly nails it. And it's absolutely brilliant.

Do I recommend? F**k yes.

More sandbox by nature than 'game', so you only get out what you put in. The survival thing is there, but it's very bare bones. However there is a vibrant modding community keeping things interesting and the devs are still releasing new content.

Do you like creative sandbox-style games?
Do you like engineering challenges?
Do you like building bases?
Do you like designing and piloting your own vehicles?
Do you like shooting stuff and making things go bang?

It's a great game for the right person.

I play on a controller as a rally-sim-noob. It's great! - bit tricky to get your head around but perfectly doable. The learning curve is very satisfying.

Excellent city/colony builder set on Mars.

Ship materials from Earth, build your fledgling colony with drones, and then invite your first colonists to the Red Planet. Fans of the city builder genre will be in familiar territory, building power networks, resource extraction facilities and social buildings to satisfy your population's needs.

To keep you on your toes various disasters will threaten the colony (severity based on map location and difficulty settings), plus an end game story-driven crisis to survive. However, once you get the hang of things, these challenges are not that hard to survive unless you really bump up the difficulty sliders. Expect a chilled out experience for the most part.

The story bits and random events add a lot flavour to the game. I found myself really enjoying the geeky references and nods to the scientific community. Be sure to check out Mars radio!

It's a game brimming with potential that has fallen in to the usual cycle of early access stagnation. A huge influx of funds which should have (in another Universe) galvanised the dev team in to delivering an awesome game, has instead disincentivised them from completing it.

It's an unfinished abandoned mess of a game. Not even a pale imitation of its grand predecessor.

Sometimes I like to get drunk, put music on my headphones and hit the highway.

Excellent hardcore (on the right setting) zombie survival game.

I would love to write an in depth review but there's too many moving parts to this game, and I really can't be bothered.
It gets my solid recommendation.

It's a fairly linear experience with a lot of cut scenes and scripted sections to nudge you along. That said, playing on harder difficulties (plus its no hand-holding approach) makes it far from being a casual experience. There's some very forgiving auto saves, but the persistence of ammo and equipment from one level to the next does give it a legitimate survival feel.

However, the reason I am loving this game is mostly because of the atmosphere and story telling. The game is based on a novel, and it shows. I get a sense of deep lore beneath the surface, like the story is much bigger than the main character. I am tempted to buy the novel even.

Viking colony simulator on one hand, RTS on the other; with a graphical style that reminds me a little of DOTA2.

Build a settlement, stockpile food and firewood for winter, mine stone and iron to upgrade things, all the while keeping everyone happy. Only with a working economy can a clan wage war on another clan. It's a refreshing and original take on the RTS genre with a fun and addictive game play loop. Just as fun solo as it is with friends or PvP.
