The campaign is awful; amateur writing & voice acting, uninteresting missions, and it's not a solo-campaign - if you don't have other players it will substitute with ineffective bots (and enemy AI is coded to focus on players rather than bots, so it's a frustrating experience on the recommended experience). The multiplayer is better, but it still suffers with bland maps and modes. The original Space Marine was better across the board, and although the 2nd has additional mechanics and deployment options it feels more slow and sluggish.

As a game, Disco Elysium attempts to be intelligent & artsy and succeeds in groovy colours.

At it's core its a point-and-click text adventure game with heavy RPG elements. The sound design is great, the story is compelling + original, and the game mechanics are fresh + entertaining. The writing is phenomenal, which is a good thing as this game could be considered an interactive novel that allows for almost unparalleled decision of action and character development (yet still managed to tell a structured narrative).

What I liked the most was how levelling up the main character seemed to change his personality depending on how I chose to level up... and that the thoughts developed through levelling up made me feel like the character had multiple-personality-disorder (for example it's quite amusing seeing yourself argue with these manifested personalitys of yourself, and that usually they're helpful but sometimes they're *really* not which makes you think the characters losing their mind - which is cool). As a warning, there's lots of politics in this game (a plus for me, but not everyones cup of tea) however it's mostly just a vehicle for absurdism and existentialism.. so if you like Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Bojack Horsemen, R&M or other shows that explore those concepts then you may dig this.

All things considered, this game made me laugh/cry at times, and once I got passed the kids on meth I didn't want to stop playing (seriously, you need to play at least an hour to get hooked). So would recommend this game: do you want to solve a murder that could spark a civil war while confronting your forgotten past, or explore your individualism - do drugs - watch the world ignite - and disco into the afterlife?

Early Access Review
Even in this late-alpha build, it's a solid game.

The graphic engine and art design is beautiful, the combats and encounters are constructed well, and the writing is phenomenal. It's super D&D while not being an emulation of a tabletop experience (they've made additions to combat and pacing), similar to the old NWN & BG game.

It's obvious they've put a tremendous amount of effort into this game and they will continue to do so like their past games. If you're thinking about buying this game then i'd wait for a year until it's fully released (or later if you're patient) as this will be one of those RPGs that people will be playing for years to come.

Immersive cyberpunk setting, ultraviolent, great soundtrack, good art design

It's like hotline miami, but instead of the 1-hit kills it's more rpg-like, with upgrades to health and various abilities.

After a string of games that fell short, they produce a gem and even manage to capture the spirit of the old warhammer world

I liked it, but couldn't recommend it.

The game has a promising beginning; real story motivation to train, tournaments, objects to buy, fights with thugs / muggers and a world with interesting characters that slowly opens up. Act 1 & 2 generally plays by managing your job and training, however act 3 is where the game falls apart; the story becomes messy, the world shuts down and the grind begins. The ending is abrupt, somewhat confusing and unsatisfactory.

The main feature of training is what discipline one picks; strength, agility or stamina. The system is poorly balanced, with agility being easy mode and the others painful to play. In contrast the fights are pretty good (even so the only input is skill setup between rounds). The best aspect about this game IMO is the atmosphere (aside from the slaughter of pop culture references) which captures that of an amateur fighter in the 80s-90s.

This game made me laugh, sad and happy. I liked it, but wouldn't recommend it due to the suspicion that not all planned content was delivered, and that other people may not be as enthusiastic about casual MMA.

Want a emersive yet depressing roguelike that uses a historic war/siege/attempted genocide as a setting? Then look no further.

It's actually an incredibly polished game with moving story / character developement which makes you question your own morals, only highly experienced players will enable the group to survive without any regrets. Can't recommend this game more.

#No spoilers, relatively unbiased

Abstract; Short campaign with little replay value, but a good concept - Think Amnesia with a baby protagonist.

Full; Among the Sleep begins strong with an immersive environment and mysterious backstory, however it struggles to maintain this as the story progresses and the dreamworld becomes surprisingly dull. You take the role as a 2 year old struggling with family issues which manifest inside the dreamworld you spend the majority of the games inside. To complete the game you will have to solve basic puzzles and overcome distressful memories and this can become moderately scary in both atmosphere and shock. The biggest let-down of the game is the very short length (including the dlc) and missed opportunity to explore more issues that may haunt children (aggressive pets, strangers, being lost, etc) leading to the conclusion that the developers ran out of time or ideas. There is a good reveal at the end and playing through the eyes of a confused toddler is a neat concept (and original in games media), however I would not recommend buying a game with less than 2-3 hours of gameplay.
