I'm really sad to see this thing go. For me, it has largely worked perfectly. To the point that friends have asked where in the living room was my pc located (actually in the basement).

You get out of it what you put into it however. If you want low latency, wired connection is the way to go... Though I've had success with 5ghz wifi in close proximity to the Steam Link. Ended up with 4.5ms of latency which is practically none at all.

I've seen many reviews saying the device doesn't work.. That it's pointless... That it's just an expensive HDMI cable and they had more success running a longer HDMI cable from their PC to the TV. Let's be clear, the use case for this is NOT for people whose computer is within reasonable HDMI cable distance from their TV.

It's hard to say if it's Valve's fault for not making the marketing more clear or the general public for not being able to wrap their head around the concept.

Either way, this small footprint, low power device is one I'm sad to see wasn't selling well enough to stick around.

The Android Steam Link app is nice but not a replacement for getting your games on your TV unless you have an AndroidTV device... Some of which don't support 5ghz wifi or ethernet... I don't see the app alone as a viable replacement for the Link device.

Here's hoping this is merely a way for Valve to clear their old stock before introducing a 4k version. Steam Link v2.0??
