A follow up to the successful 2015 top down twin stick shooter, Helldivers 2 puts you in a new perspective in charge of fighting a multi front war in order to defend Super Earth and bring freedom to the galaxy once again.

Unlike the first game, Helldivers 2 is now a live service game and with it comes a whole new system on how the game operates. Similar to what was seen in the original game, Helldivers 2 features plenty of weapons and perks that allow for great customization within a squad. Although the game can be played alone it truly shines when you invite some friends along for the ride.

One of my biggest cause for concerns for this game before launch was how the change from a top down shooter of the first game to a 3rd person shooter would to change the game fundamentally. The first game forced squads to work together due to the camera restrictions, but that isn't the case in this game. Players can split up and explore the map freely, but the game really becomes difficult if you do not coordinate with your fellow divers. Overall, I feel the switch was very positive and it truly makes the game more engaging to play.

Finally, at the time of this writing, there has been a lot of issues over the server capacity and bugs. Although this can be very annoying currently, Arrowhead will continue to work to fix those issues. Hopefully within a month most of the issues will be gone and focus can be turned to adding additional content.

Overall, I highly recommend Helldivers 2 to fans of the first game and players that enjoy 3rd person shooters. Now get out there and spread some managed democracy for Super Earth!
