This game is unbelievably bland. No effort has been put in either combat or quest design, the upgrade mechanics are superficial at best, skill progression is a joke. At least it looks pretty, I guess.

Difficulty is not fun, just tedious.

Balance is all over the place, you breeze through one area and struggle to kill enemies in the next one.

Recommended skills are an active hindrance to your progression.

Respecs are too expensive and should, in all honesty, be free for the early access period so people can actually test things out, especially if GGG decides to nuke certain builds.

Loot has been disappointing so far.

Servers often struggle to stay stable, resulting in an absolute lag fest.

A welcome fresh breath for this genre.

A must play.

People complaining about monsters having more hp in master rank are hilarious.

Boring. Hours of slow walking around and talking to NPCs that have no relevance to the plot of FFVII, pointless filler and one-off NPCs that contribute nothing. Please get someone with actual writing skills to do the future versions of this game and fire that crack smoking lunatic that thinks he's a game director.

It's a mixed bag. The first half of the MSQ was fairly enjoyable, tho it lacked the quality of writing we had with Shadowbringers and Endwalker. Second half was when the story did a nose dive straight into concrete, strange plot twists and a very weak villain as the penultimate boss.

Job design is also a huge disappointment as, for most jobs, nothing has changed aside from one extra oGCD you can press now. Many jobs still play very similarly too each other, especially tanks, and healers still only have horribly boring DPS rotations (1 button wonders, truly).

New Raids are ok, tho the gear doesn't really fit with their theme. Anything else is pretty much the same as it has always been. No real innovations worth talking about.

Overall it's a bit of a disappointment, especially compared to SHB and EW. Maybe the story is gonna go somewhere in the future but right now it's not.
