I had a friend who described playing this game as "It's like getting a new girlfriend, who is great, but you keep thinking about your ex (Mass Effect, Skyrim, Fallout, etc.) and what she's doing." First, I love scifi so this is right up my alley. The game is fun for a while, but once you figure out who the enemy is, you, or myself at least, wanted to stop playing. There's a lot to do, but not much substance. Maybe the DLCs will fix that, but they sound like they are far off. I was looking forward to creating a ship, but the story is just bad so I'm just going to finish (I have the final mission left). and leave it. The Outposts are completely useless. I spent a LOT of time in Fallout 4 creating my settlements, I thought that was cool. Here there's zero reason to do them. I never even tried it out. There are a LOT of junk skills. I think I had maybe 10 skills unlocked, if that. The powers you get (no this can't spoil the game...) are just horrible. I unlocked something like "Gravity Wave" thinking I was going to Fus-Ro-Dah some bad guys and, not joking, it just caused the guy to trip and fall on his face... This game just doesn't have the Bethesda mojo.

Pros:
Ship creation seems cool.
It looks really good.

Cons:
Companions are just awful. I did not even want to talk to them.
Hazy look in multiple areas (RTX 3080) which I could never get rid of.
The main story is not good. It's amateur hour writing.
Powers are also completely useless.
Facial animation is not good. There's something missing that gives them that creepy look.

First I love scifi games so this is something that should have been right up my alley. I can't put my finger on it, but from the first hour of this game I wanted to stop and uninstall it. The characters are not interesting in the slightest. I usually play every mission or side mission in a game, but in this game I couldn't care less what happened to the characters. I actually skipped several missions that would have saved people because I knew I had almost finished the game! The enemies are also not interesting and are built up to be deadly, but are a piece of cake once you've leveled a little. The game seems to rely on spawning large groups of incredibly tough enemies in certain areas instead of story telling. The graphics aren't bad, but they don't look like they have any texture to them, like it's late 90s 3D graphics. I made myself slog through the game, which luckily I only paid $10 for. If you want a cool scifi game, go play the original Prey or if you want a survival/scifi game go play System Shock 2. It might be a decent game to play if you get it free.

This is what a singleplayer DLC should be. It fleshes out the characters a lot more and fills in pieces of the main game that you hear about. Also a very cool Lovecraftian level at the end!

10/10 I got this in a Steam sale and then after playing it I felt bad for not paying full price! I mainly like military or scifi and did not think I liked fantasy games, but I was wrong. It's that good. It's one of the most immersive games I've ever played.
