First off I will get the bad out of the way. Almost every criticism you've heard about the writing in this game is on point. Its bad, I mean... just horrible. Now we won't pretend like Borderlands was ever a shining monument to good writing but BL 1 and 2 didn't take themselves too seriously, just like a good comic book, while BL3 takes not taking itself too seriously, too seriously, like a bad comic book. That is the best way I can sum it up without going into paragraphs of detail. The characters are also just oh, so, dumb.

Luckily, this doesn't take away from it so much that it isn't a good game, or that it isn't worth playing. I mean you can sorta zone out the awful characters and dialogue. The gunplay is top notch. The builds are fun and nothing in the game is tooooo hard unless you want it to be. Yeah I would still recommend it, maybe not at full price but I am still having fun, poor writing aside.

This game is at best OK. At this point I think I only keep playing it so I don't feel like I wasted as much money on it as I did. The ship building is only ok. Combat is par. It isn't fancy but isn't broken. The story is so generic that in this day and age its embarrassing really. The graphics are ok. It runs ok. Space exploration? There isn't any. I mean, you can jump from a system to another one, but once you're there you can't explore any space. You fight a space battle if there happens to be one... after that, you can fly fly fly fly fly in your ship and go nowhere. If you wanna go somewhere, open the map and jump. Map and jump, map and jump, map jump map jump. You'll be doing 90% mapping and jumping from your cockpit and 10 percent flying at most. When you get onto a planet you can explore but its boring af. Nothing you discover is interesting. Its just a bleh game.
