Planet Zoo is a great game in its own right. If you're really into design and landscaping this is one of the best games available in the genre. I've always found that Frontier games fall short in their replay value though. Career mode is engaging but short, and franchise is really lacking.

My biggest issue was there being no way to automate births, relocation, and trading of animals. In a very large franchise zoo this leads to constant issues. You end up playing on pause because your animals are all unhappy.

Also they included a walkthrough exhibit in the base game but no compatible animals. You have to purchase DLC animals to use it and the game doesn't warn you about that. After spending a bunch of time on my own trying to make it work, I was very agitated that I needed to make an additional purchase. And this definitely did not make me want to purchase any DLC (it thats marketing scheme they were going for).

If you're just an building sim fan get it on sale. It's probably worth the play through.

Elden Ring is an amazing game that is not only immersive but includes the challenging world building that Dark Souls fans enjoy.

I would say story is the only weak point of the game. With such a large world and so few intractable npc's, its easy to forget who your talking to.

Combat is fluid and easy to master, yet still contains the soul-like difficultly one can expect from FromSoftware. I welcome the new open world, though I can see how most souls veterans may not enjoy it. There is a lot to explore and not always a linear path through.

The world, characters, and spell design are all top notch and render beautifully.

With literally thousands of combinations of weapons, spells and incantations to try out on hundreds of bosses, the replay value is endless. I have played numerous characters over ng++ and still am finding new favorite builds.

Comparing to the Dark Souls series, I have seen others say that world progression is easier but the the boss fights are more difficult. I can agree with this viewpoint. Elden Ring is a very difficult game, but a good introduction if you want to get into the Dark Souls series.

If I did encounter a bug, it was simply the game crashing to desktop. This happened rarely though.

I am playing on an i5-9600k with a 1060 6gb for hours on end. Very rarely did my frame rate noticeably drop, and if it did I question if it was due to a background process rather than the amount of action on screen.

FromSoftware games do not go on sale often, and I would say the game is worth it at full price.
