It's actually quite difficult to recommend this game.
gameplay is basically a more fast paced MTG, for anyone who has never touched card games before, the game's easy to learn, and for those who are familiar with MTG, you'd be used to the basics of this game very quickly.

it's fully voiced (the cards can talk), and it also has cool story mode which is also fully voiced, the soundtracks are also memorable.

deckbuilding is fun, especially since they added Cross Craft (2 classes combined) you have more options to build, however most people will play the same deck or meta deck in multi, which can get boring, although this might apply to any card games ever, the problem is that even in unranked, a lot of people will still play these kinda decks. And you don't have a lot
of answers fighting against those decks unless you also play meta deck or have the luck to beat them.
This might be obvious but if you're the type of player who don't like to play with meta deck I'd recommend staying at low rank, just do your dailies, play with your friends, or just do story mode.

Another thing is that, unlike MTGA, this game doesn't give you free permanent decks, you'd only be given a ticket to "buy" a free temporary deck to play in multi. Yes there are trial decks that you can use for free in solo but that's it really, for newcomers and long time players this is not really a huge deal since newcomers can just play solo to get used to the game and long time players will have resources to build their own deck, but it's starting to become a problem if you're a returning player who don't have resources to build a deck or newcomers who want to play with other decks in multi, because you don't have many options, and daily missions tells you to play with different decks.

I think the biggest issue this game has is bots, in Unlimited low rank, I've met a bunch of bots that would stretch the game, not doing anything until their time runs out, and if they have cards to play they will play them, their goal is to make the legit players concede so that they'd get free points, you can win against those obviously, because they have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ deck, but it's really wasting people's times. Luckily I haven't met any of them in Rotation or Unranked, which some people say that they do exists in those modes.
You might think that making them auto concede when they run out of time would be a good solution but it's not that easy, because the time you're given to think in this game isn't like super long, most high-ranked players will play a turn until they run out of time because that's just how it is, to think and take actions, making sure you don't make mistakes.
Making them auto concede when they're not doing anything isn't also a solution because remember, the bots can play a card when they have enough points to play it.
So I think the solution to this would be making the turn time longer, but make them auto concede when they run out of time 3 times, just like MTGA.
I also hope that Cygames will take action and start to ban all those bots as soon as possible.

so overall, I'd recommend this game for the story mode, or you just want to play the game casually, enjoy listening to the voice of your favorite voice actors, or if you have the money or time to spend to make the good decks to play competitively.

nice looking pixel art splatoon.
but you find weapons through map loot like Quake arena or some other arena shooters.

atm there's only one server, which is NA, so I hope they'll add more in the future.
You can still get into a match (with bots) when there are no players around and still get points off of it, it's nice if you just want to kill some time.

overall, this is a fun free game.

So after 100%'d this game, I've decided to write this review.

Overview

To me this game seems to be a combination of Castlevania and Dark Souls, and a good one.
The gloomy atmosphere, non-linear (metroidvania) gameplay, and Souls-like combat (maybe more like Bloodborne).

Art and Music

The pixel art is very well done, especially since the animations are smoothly hand-drawn, very pleasing to the eye.
And then the music, while it may not be the greatest, it does the job right, and some of them are quite memorable, especially the Pardoner's Dance. I feel like a lot of people might agree that Fennel's fight is the best part in the game.

Gameplay/Combat

Normally, I don't like metroidvanias that only has 1 type of main weapon. Although there are few exceptions, and one of them is definitely Momodora. The combat is satisfying enough to keep you entertained, you're only equipped with a leaf (that plays like a sword) and a bow (which you can charge to shoot more arrows), either you want to play all melee, all ranged or mixed it's all up to you, and of course there are items you can use to change your playstyle a bit. And just like other Souls-like games, dodging is important.
Overall it's just fun to play.

Difficulty

At the beginning, you get to choose a difficulty, Easy, Normal, or Hard.
I've never played Easy but Normal was very well balanced for a first playthrough, until you get to a certain point where you've collected a bunch of Heart fragments (extra HP) and Bellflower (healing item), a lot of bosses would be too easy to beat, on my first playthrough (which was on Normal), most of the bosses are beaten after 2nd try, even the final boss wasn't hard to beat.
I'd still recommend playing on Normal for a first playthrough and replay on Hard for a 100% run.
Although if you want a challenge on Normal I suppose you can go for the Imperishable and/or Pacifist run (never actually tried a New Game+ so I'm not sure if it adds difficulty or not, probably does).

On Hard there are extra enemies in some maps, and your Health is lower, sometimes you'd even die in one hit, but I feel like this is the difficulty where the game meant to be played on.
When you beat the game on Hard, the Insane difficulty will be unlocked, where everything basically just kills you in one hit, in the description it only says "Don't even try this". I mean it's up to you if you want to do this or not, but to me this was actually fun, I usually get frustrated when games gets too difficult but thanks to the fun combat, I don't feel that at all.

But perhaps it's not only about the combat, but also the save point placements. When you're about to fight a boss, you don't have to face like hundreds of enemies after leaving the save point, some of the save points are also placed right besides the boss room, so this game is quite kind on that matter.

Royal Pinacotheca

Yes I'm making an entire section dedicated to one area in the game.
Minor spoiler warning.

This area is accessible after you've obtained all 4 Crest Fragments, and to me this is just the Blighttown of Momodora. I mean it's not that bad, but, I remember dying a lot in this place, maybe I'm just bad at the game but still. On top of that this game has the hardest boss in the game (in my opinion), Lupiar and Magnolia.
Despite all of that this is probably the most memorable place for me, probably a nightmare too.

Conclusion

Overall I just love this game, especially with the art, gloomy atmosphere, and satisfying combat. Fennel best boss, and screw you Royal Pinacotheca.

I'm giving this game a 9/10.

Thank you for reading this.

Okay, first of all, i have almost 0 knowledge of Record of Lodoss War and somehow I still manage to enjoy the game, although story might be little confusing for a first timer like me since you're not familiar with anything, the characters, the settings, and other things, but it won't ruin your experience, trust me.

This game has a very important feature in a metroidvania game, something that made me love metroidvania in the first place, which is weapon diversity. This game allows you to play with different type of (melee) weapons, such as Swords, Clubs, Spears, and more.
I don't really want to just stick with a whip, or a piko hammer, or a bunch of knives the entire game, don't get me wrong, i don't dislike those kinda games, but I like playing with different type of weapons way more.
Aria of Sorrow, is the one that introduced me to Castlevania/Metroidvania, its just always fun, to find a new weapon and using them, even if they probably are not better than your current weapon.
Same thing with Symphony of the Night, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia.
But this is just my personal preference.
Not to mention this game also features backdash, another great feature.

This game also has very fun mechanics, like the Bow physics, you've already seen it from the trailer it's pretty cool, and the 2 spirits, that reminds me of Outland, remember that game?
It's such a cool feature, especially in boss fights.
Speaking of Boss fights, difficulty-wise, they're pretty fair, not too easy, not too hard, you just have to be careful, and swap spirits at the right time, if necessary.

As you can see, this game is beautiful graphically, especially if you're a fan of Pixel Graphics like me, so much details put into this, I mean if you've already seen how these guys made that Touhou Luna Night you wouldn't be surprised how amazing this game looks.

Soundtrack-wise, I think they have great soundtrack, can't really say much about it honestly, people have their own taste in music.

So, I think I've said everything that I wanted to say about the game.
Now, should you get this game? Well, it depends, the game is still in Early Access, and I'm not sure how long the game is going to be, knowing Team Ladybug, that seems to be making only short games (2-4 hours), I don't think they'd make this a, let's say, 10-20 hours long game, although it would be great if they do.
But I'd say keep your expectations low. Right now there are only 2 chapters, and I finished them all in 2 hours. Some people might finished them sooner.
If you don't mind playing short games and just want a fun metroidvania experience then go for it.
But if you want a long playtime metroidvania then you might need to wait until the game releases.

That's all I gotta say for now, might update this review when new game updates comes out.

this is one of the few fast paced/3v3 mobas that actually has players in it.
Battlerite is the other one, but that game is abandoned by its developer, although i still play it sometimes.

Fast-paced and/or 3v3 itself is an unpopular subgenre in moba i mean look at what happened to Twisted Treeline in League, which is kinda sad since i enjoy faster games more than 30mins long games.
Especially in Blitz, which each games only takes 5 minutes. Its like playing party brawlers, but in moba format.

This game is in a bit of a situation right now unfortunately, but the developers are doing their best to save the game, which is good.
And for now all heroes and skins are free which is a good time to actually play and learn more about the heroes.
The only downside right now i guess, is that you can't make a party yet, since that feature is disabled.

just play it, don't let this game die.

i hope the developer would come back to this game and make things right instead of running away to a new project.

Good game, will definitely recommends this to those who are new to fighting games, or just casual players like me.
You can still do flashy moves even if you're new, and i think that will keep you motivated.
Mostly because of the "Passing Link", there's also a "Smart Steer" which is basically an auto combo.

3 buttons for basic attacks is another reason why this game is easier to learn in my opinion, since most games has 4 buttons for basic attacks.
Most of the characters are also easy to use, even if you mash buttons you can still look flashy, although there are characters that are more complex or harder to use, obviously, for example like Yuzuriha or Waldstein in my opinion.

Tutorials are easy to follow too, if you read the instructions properly that is (I got stuck in 7-7 and 12-1 until i read the instruction for the 2nd time). There's also missions which lets you learn combos for each characters.
For all missions and veteran level tutorials you can view "Demo" which is super helpful, so you can understand exactly what you're supposed to do, you can also display the input history for that.

Story-wise its pretty good i'd say, if you like Type-Moon type of stories you'll probably like this (I mean these are the guys who co-developed Melty Blood so..), keep in mind that this is a fighting game though so it's not story-heavy or something like that.

For soundtracks, I like them, lots of bangers, you can also give them a listen on sp*tify.

For netplay, not bad i'd say, for a fighting game there are decent amount of players online as of now, but delay based netcode might be a problem for a lot of players so keep that in mind. Maybe its best if you have friends nearby to play with, or local even.

It's like Minecraft but less farming and more fighting, it's more about hunting monsters and bosses and craft all those cool weapons and armors.
So if you don't really like fighting you may not like this game, play Minecraft or Stardew Valley instead.
And if you're looking for 2D Monster Hunter this might be the closest thing you ever get so far.
