I'm pleasantly surprised with Wolfenstein: The New Order. I went into this game wanting to play a mindless shooter like COD or Doom. My experience was nothing like that.

Yes, you can go in guns blazing but stealth is also a very good option except for some scripted parts. I found the stealth gameplay very good; being equipped with a silenced pistol and throwing knives was enough for me to have fun without the gameplay being tedious, especially once I got the stealth upgrade that increases crouching speed.

Upgrades were another good surprise. There are four trees, each with eight passives that can be unlocked via gameplay challenges. This gave me passive goals to seek out while I played and it enhanced my experience, especially since I'm a completionist. It also encouraged me to play differently as the skill trees are unlocked with four different playstyles; stealth, varied gun-play, dual wielding and grenades/rockets.

The gameplay itself is extremely well done. While the movement feels a bit nauseating due to screen shake; the guns feels great to shoot, the sound design for the weapons is incredibly crisp and the enemy death animations are fluid/satisfying. This all makes the game good for replayability especially since there are two timelines depending on a story decision. The timelines change gameplay by allowing small changes to the routes taken within most levels and it changes the cutscenes to a certain degree.

The story is average but the overall quality of the cutscenes is very good. The cutscenes are portrayed like a cool action movie and, honestly, they fit the game very well. The music in the game and in the cutscenes is also very good and help with the aesthetic that they are going for. I will say though; the small moments when the protagonist is introspective are really great. These moments showcase an underlying theme of loss, humanity and duty. They did the heavy lifting in making me invested in the story.

Achievement hunting was also very fun and not tedious at all. When you finish the game, chapter select is available which makes it easier to finish the remainder of any missing achievements. Even though I've obtained all achievements, I'll still gladly replay this game in the future just so I can experience the other timeline and use one of the secret difficulties that you obtain by solving the enigma codes.

This is a great game and I'm extremely excited to play the next Wolfenstein games + Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. 8/10.

I was excited to try this game out but turns out performance is very bad. My computer can get high frame rates but for some reason, V-Sync breaks in this game. I've tried the V-Sync in-game and the Nvidia Control Panel V-Sync + Triple Buffering and nothing works correctly. The game is usually fine with no screen tearing or flickering for like 10 seconds before it all falls apart, meanwhile my FPS is a steady 60. I do want to point out that my issue isn't JUST normal screen tearing but also massive flickering that looks like a 2 inch horizontal screen tear going down my monitor along with movement feeling like sub 30 FPS (even though I get a steady 60 FPS). I'm disappointed and I cannot recommend for non G-Sync users, although I have also heard of issues involving G-Sync. I hope this issue is fixed in the future because I would like to give this game a fair shot.

Perhaps the best game ever made. Large scope, intense levels of connectivity, good immersion, deep combat, DND's level of progression/rule set, amazingly made cutscenes and huge amounts of polish make this game one of the best I've ever played.

Larian really outdid themselves again.

Stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nerfing weapons that are popular and start BUFFING weapons that AREN’T popular…

And while you’re at it, sell this game at all the countries it previously sold in. There’s still countries that cannot buy this game but were once allowed to buy it.

Yall are killing one of the best gems in gaming. Want more players? Start making smart decisions.

BIAS WARNING: I love the original and have a lot of memories as a kid playing the game and especially, pvping. I was a top 100 player for Dio and Zero for a long time.

Just for the record, this game has already shut down in the past and relaunched in 2021 into a classic server. Currently, the game has already caught up to their last patch before closing servers (minus Uno rip) and they are releasing new content like characters from their sequel mobile gacha game. On paper, everything looks good but my experience, overall, has left a sour taste in my mouth.

I didn't even want to try this classic server due to private servers that were insanely good, f2p friendly and littered with so much quality of life that the game felt like a modern game. KOG has been shutting all of them down and recently shut my favorite one down. Completely within their right, mind you, but still made me feel bad after playing that wonderful server.

Once I found out about the demise of private servers, I downloaded this classic server and low and behold, all characters are free! Unlike the original game, you log in and pick whatever characters you want to play. It's probably the best thing so far YET the private servers ALREADY HAD THIS.

Rummaging through the menus I find out that there's a character growth menu that gives you about $2 worth of premium currency PER character you level to 85. Not what I was expecting so I was pleasantly surprised, HOWEVER, private servers were already giving premium currency upon login EACH DAY.

The third thing I noticed, the thing that really killed my desire to play this garbage, is the death of account-wide systems. Inventory, items, and premium items such as PETS are now character-wide. If I remember correctly, the original game had account-wide inventory. I used the same pets on all my characters but looking through some info, I find out this garbage company, KOG, apparently instituted the character bound system as the original game was dying....

I cannot fathom the actions of this company and of this game thus I am not recommending anyone play it. Nostalgia is ALL you will get followed by sadness and a giant dent on your forehead and wallet.

After the 2.0 update and the release of Phantom Liberty, I can finally recommend this game. It's ridiculously immersive and I've enjoyed it a lot. This is quickly turning into one of my favorite games to play.

That being said, I'm never going to pre-order games and I'll always wait for a review. Fortunately, I didn't buy this game Day 1 but still, this version of the game is what we should've had in 1.0.

8/10.

Very enjoyable game with hard (and fun) to master mechanics. The only downside is is the perk grind. Takes forever to get the perks you need to be in a good position to learn the game or have a meta build. It takes even longer to get the perks you'll need for other fun, more interesting and/or more niche builds.
