The base game is fun and a good way to burn time in a rather fun and exciting way if you love trains. If your looking for AAA train sim world level stuff then move along. This game is still in it's infancy and has tons of room to grow, plus the modding scene is already wilding with making all kinds of awesome content from industries and scenery to locomotives and track design changes. Quality of life mods, industries, cars, scenery, it just goes on and on.

Overall I love this game and love the potential it has to grow. If your not someone that either loves trains, or enjoys them I'd say pass along this one. It is far from arcade-y and quick fun, this is a long sit down and work for fun game. It has it's share of bugs and issues but the devs and community are pretty quick to fix or create temporary work arounds for them.
