Even while still in early access, Hades manages to provide more than enough enjoyment and value for its mid-tier price tag. The combat is fluid, the music enthralling, the character design diverse and the voice acting enhances the gods’ identity and provides a bit of world building. The weapons offer a few combat style options and can be unlocked quickly while having some potential to be upgraded after some work. The combat is fluid and being hit always feels fair. Without spoiling anything, I feel as though the last boss is a rather large difficulty spike; after 6 runs or so, I managed to make it there and the last 12 or so have been ended by it. Despite this, the combat has me wanting more!

Out of the variety of weapons, some feel very satisfying to use while others feel too simplistic and boring; the worst offender being the bow. This may be due to personal enjoyment from comboing with other weapons, like the sword, or also felt by others.

Hades easily slips into my top 5 roguelite list and is a clear “recommend” from me. If you enjoy fluid combat with the signature Supergiant touch, Hades is the game for you.
