This game is an excellent multiplayer fighting game, and shines when you can build and then test out your decks with an opponent. Unforunately, networking-wise the game is a huge mess right now. Playing from Yokohama, Japan, it has after just a few days become incredibly rare for a match to be anything other than laggy beyond reason, and certainly beyond playability.
Additionally, if I VPN to Tokyo and play the game, it becomes clear it treats these two neigbouring cities in Japan as *different regions* for matchmaking. That said, in any case it still matches me with people from Fiji, from Australia (mostly Australia actually), from the US, from AZERBERJIAN (!) and even from the UK (!!) which is on the other side of the planet. That said, Even when it matched me against players also in Japan, the game sometimes STILL lagged to death, as it did with players from South Korea.

In short, great game, truly abysmal infrastructure that essentially negates the entire experience, making it a huge waste of your time. With luck, they will somehow dig it out of this state, as the mechanics and design are really superb - but I'm not holding my breath. The team creating it, while clearly exceedingly talented and hard working, are--I'm told-- only 6 strong. Being such a small developer, it seems less than likely they will be able to resolve the problems the game has in a timely fashion.

But who knows? Devolver, the publisher, have already stated it's their biggest ever launch in terms of figures, so perhaps they will provide the strong support and resources that Sloclap certainly need.
